"Dainty Dane"(mini Great Danes?) Just a statement. Goodness gracious, puppies are not meant to be eternal infants, nor are they a substitute for a human infant, but they are meant to be loved and cared for as unconditionally as the love they give to you. So often, I read of people complaining that their Yorkie is too "big", not what they ordered etc.... That Yorkie will never be as big as a *big* dog, but his health problems can be...his love will be....his loyalty will be...for goodness sakes if you want a forever puppy get a guinea pig, they stay puppy size forever. Sorry, just a rant! |
:) I need this today...tiny this, tiny that, eiyieyieyieyie |
Having owned,at different times, tiny poodles I can tell you that they can come with giant medical issues. I didnt get to pick the size of my people puppies, some are taller than me,some are shorter than me and always will be. Some obey very well and some not so much. The furkids are the same. I love my yorkie, she is smart and independent but still likes to snuggle. I love the pom, she isnt very brite, but she has a heart made of platinum, I love the red poodle,he is my grandpuppy and is the cutest, stinkiest lil boy and his half brother is like having Eyore in the house, slow and moopy. The chi, well what can I say,he is definately a chi. I love them ALL. |
My sister bought a Yorkie that is supposed to weigh around 3 to 3 and half pounds full grown. I would be nervous with a tiny one but so many are comfortable with them..now Miss Priss parents were of standard size, Mom at 7 lbs. and Dad at 5 lbs. She needs to be about standard b/c I have a Peke and I wanted them to be closer to the same size but then again Yoshi is getting a little hefty. LOL |
This may be a little off the subject but i was speaking to a lady who said she was adopting a 2 year old yorkie who is 2 pounds. I replied, "that is so nice, i also have a yorkie. He is 6 mths and 6 pounds". She replied, "Oh wow". It was not her words but her tone that implied Oscar is a giant freak of nature, lol . It did not bother me cause i don't think she meant anything but it just made me think that some people are just not aware that yorkies come in a variety of sizes and no matter how big or small , they are still a yorkie.. |
The big problem is our society that is obsessed with smallness. They are fueling the market for breeders to breed this way. If there wasnt any money in it they would quit breeding for those small sizes. What is not to love about a dog being able and capable to be a dog and do dog things rather than a purse pup that cant get on the couch go up steps or do normal things a dog does |

Princess was supposed to be 5-6# and I'm still waiting for her to lose some weight, since she's at 9.5# right now.:p Just kidding, I love the extra cushioning & she's still tiny to me (with a huge attitude:p). She's a proud member of the Teapot club, which I prefer over the 1/8tsp. club.;) |
