miniture yorkie? I know there is no such thing as a teacup but is there such a thing as a miniture yorkie? I know lots of other breeds have minitures so I wasn't sure if its a real thing or just another name for a runt? |
The poodle has 3 official sizes, standard, miniature and toy, but the yorkie only has one official size, and that's the toy. Because the toy poodle was affectionately called a teacup, people started calling a yorkie a teacup, but there is no official definition for a teacup or mini. Of course, yorkies come in all sizes the most common are 4-5 pounds. Standard says, "Must not exceed 7 pounds." |
There are smaller yorkies I call them tinies. They can be the runt, bred to be small or just in their genetics they ended up small |
A Yorkie is a Yorkie! There are no size variations to the breed. It's like my human children, my oldest son is 6'5" and 275 lbs and my youngest daughter is 5' 6" and 110 lbs. Same litter different sizes. ;) |
I feel you Megansmomma:D My oldest son is tall and slender but my baby girl is short and round. The same applies to doggie kids. My co worker's daughter's yorkie was the runt in her litter but she is now 10 pounds. |
I am sure we would love a tiny yorkie baby who ends up being a teapot just as we love our human children who may not fit within society's average. |
