Do they go to through a teenager phase?
 
Simba turned 7 month this month and he has been really good about using the pee pads inside for #1 and doing bigger business outside. However lately he has been misbehaving. It has been rainy and cold here for the last week so I understood that he didn't want to go outside but he has been leaving little "surprises" (puddles and poo sometimes too) in the house lately. He is not marking just peeing inside!!!! Yesterday he was looking flat at me when he squat to pee and even before I was able to react he put himself in time-out in the play pen. He looked all guilty with his ears down and all. He was doing so well for the last two month, hardly any accidents and now this!!! I am wondering if they go through rebellious teenage stages as well where they want to see how far they can push you. I am at my wits end....

Well...I've never had an older yorkie.... but from what I can tell - they STAY in the 'Teenager' Phase :D

I find they go through a puppy, teen, young adult, adult, middle age adult, old adult stage. When they act rebellious, I blame it on one the these stages. LOL
Time for belly bands..is he neutered?

I say yes they do go through a teenager stage...both of my girls went through a period where they really tested everything, pottying, commands and all the rules!! Most of the time with a little retraining they will come through it...although my Magic still has the teenager attitude at times!!! LOL

My dog book says they do go through a teenager stage! I thought - dang it - I raised one of those suckers and he lived through it (my son) and now here I go again! Ha.

The book says don't give in - keep at as strict a routine as possible and keep them on a short leash (I don't know if they meant that literally or not???). Makes sense to me...lol

Yes, they definitely go through a teenage phase when their brains turn to mush [just like human teenagers ;)]!

I think you have to deal with the housebreaking lapse by going back to the beginning - watch him like a hawk, go outside with him at pottytime, treat and praise heavily when he gets it right, clean it up when he has mistakes without punishing him Punishment just teaches him to hide from you when he goes. For some sensitive dogs, even a firm "no" is punishment.

You might want to restrict the areas of your house that he has access to until his brain recovers from all those hormones! LOL!
