GPS microchip? Is there such a thing? My friend says there is and then you can use your phone or even OnStar to locate your pet. I've only heard of the microchips that can be scanned if a lost pet is brought in. What about the instances where people ignore ID tags and don't bother reporting a "found" pet and just keep it for themselves! :cry2: |
I googled it, but only found regular microchipping and the gps units that go on the dog's collar, but not an implanted microchip with gps. It's a good idea though. |
I would think anything like that would be too big to implant. It would need to run on batteries or some type of power. There is a product called TAGG, and it's a nice GPS device that goes on a collar. The told me that they can't make them any smaller right now unless they sacrifice performance. There is a yearly service fee of around $80. The downside is that the dogs should be around 10 lbs and up because the device is likely too bulky for smaller dogs unless they wear a harness. |
Ok thanx. I didn't think my friend knew what he was talking about. Went ahead and got microchipped today. |
