How long should I let her chew on her bully stick? Hi all, Bella is *big time* into her teething stage. She's just 20 weeks old (5 months) and has lost 4 teethies thus far (that I have seen). The question I have is...how long should I be letting her gnaw on her bully sticks? It seems to be the only thing she's even remotely interested in. |
It depends on how much of the bully stick she is consuming. If she isn't eating any of it, let her go as long as she wants. If she is eating a whole bunch, take into account the fat grams she is consuming per day. A pup should not consume several inches of a bully stick each day. |
Thanks! We've thrown one of them in the trash because it was 2 weeks old, and only 1/4 of the way gone...but kinda gross looking so out it went. This one has no part of it gone, just very mushy. She's not really a chewer...more of a nibbler/mouther/gummer/gnawer? lol If that makes sense. ...they SMELL so bad. lol |

Anyway, thank you very much for the info and the advice! |
I buy Bully's bulk, a bag of about 20 or so. and other treats by large bags. I have a small Refrigerator that all their Food stuffs are kept in. I'd be very suspicious if I found a Bully that was soft (other than where they had chewed it at) or if it were stringy. That just doesn't sound right to me, I consider throwing either of those away. Another thing, if I find a Bully that's less than about 1.5", it gets tossed too. I "think" that both of mine have on occasion swallowed short pieces like that, and though they will eventually digest, it interrupts the normal nutritional intake. That makes them just not eat for a day or so... I don't like that, so I pitch um. |
