Skin discoloration Penny moved out with my hubby a few months ago. She now goes outside to do her business since there is a yard available, and we've also her off the W/D to a better quality food. Over the last month, her stomach has slowly darkened. It has gone from pink to an overall dark gray. The discoloration spread from one area across her entire stomach. When I saw her today, only a small patch on the inside of one rear leg is not dark. She gives no indication that her stomach itches and does not seem bothered at all by the change. She does have a history of allergies as demonstrated by constant eye gunk and biting at her feet. We've always had success with Benadryl in keeping these symptoms under control. From the little info I've found online, it seems this can be a sign of allergies. I'm not too concerned at this point, but has anyone else experienced this? |
I checked with our vet at Penny's annual, and he said there's no problem with it. It's odd, not only is her belly now a dark gray, but even the insides of her ears are now dark. Her coat is darker, too. Guess she has a doggie "tan" :) |
My mini schnauzer had pink skin. Over time between sun & flea allergy reactions she appears "parti" all over from a light browning tone to the pink in some places still. I continually get her skin checked by our vet who really takes her time looking over every inch of it-we're lucky it's not been any serious infection or concerning formations. Skin changes over time and in some dogs more than others. Scoobers has brown spots that have appears in various places completely flat, the vet called them age spots and we did have two tested before he's been fine. Poor guy I was trying to really wash one on his arm pit off until I realized it wasn't going anywhere. |
