Naming animals here is a big ordeal and it often takes me anywhere from a few days to a week to pick the perfect name. It took me 2 weeks to name my first horse (Apache) and my GSD (Sophia). I got Hope a few months after my first dog ever was hit by a car. It was a very hard time for me, I was pregnant, I had just moved into my now hubby's family's house and my girl was my best friend when she was hit. My father in law was threatening to not let me keep her inside (I have a heated kennel outside) and so when I brought her inside, he lectured me a while, then asked her name and so I said "hope" b/c there's always Hope you will change ur mind... And so he did... :) (though I would have snuck her in, he NEVER would have known the way our house is, and with how little she is) Bambi is short for Bambina Bella. I was thinking of keeping with the "Hope Faith Love" theme and already had a Faith, so trying to find "Love" in another language that fit her, I played around with an english-italian translator (since my family derives from italy) and came up with beautiful baby girl instead. ( she almost was named Alice after my favorite charactor names in 2 movies) I even had a list of about 15 names I liked that I would edit every so often, I knew I was keeping her from the time she was born, so it really took me about 7 weeks to name her... the longest it's ever taken me. And then her name wasn't even on my list! And Kayla is my daughter's pup, so Christmas morning, we asked her what she wanted to name her puppy and she said "kayla" (I have a friend named Kayla and my daughter really likes that name and most of her toys get named Kayla). So in essence, Kayla was the easiest of mine to name... :) |
Well, mine was pretty easy. I love shopping, and watching Project Runway, and fashion in general, so I though if I got a girl her name would be CoCo Chanel. Yes, that's right. So the day I got her and I saw her, I knew that was the right name for her. We Call her CoCo or CoCo bean for short. I just added Mademoiselle in front of it for kicks, so her full proper registered name is Mademoiselle CoCo Chanel Johnson. LOL When I get a boy he will be Ralph Lauren. LOL |

Oops. forgot to add that Daisy was named due to her coat color. She's my little precious flower bundle of love and joy :love07: |
How she got her name, Gracie She is a rescue from a huge puppy mill bust in Quebec (527 dogs and almost 200 born since the bust) She was only 5 oz when her foster Mom brought her and her siblings & Mom home. She was alot smaller than her siblings. She named her Gracie because she felt it was by the grace of god that she is alive. The name suited her so we kept it. Every day it suits her more and more |

Taycie's name is from a children's book written by Maud Hart Lovelace. I read when I was younger. My mom loved the series and my grandma also read them. I changed the spelling but I remember loving the little girl "Tacy" in the book:) The Betsy-Tacy Society | Betsy-Tacy Society |
Allie & Noah- the notebook Westley- the princess bride My favorite book, and my favorite movie. I hope to one day have another little girl to name buttercup. |
I love hearing all these stories about how everyone chose their furbaby's name!! Scampers got his name because he was a rambunctious pup, scampering all over the place, lol. Brownie was originally named Benny but I didn't like the name but wanted something similar sounding for his benefit and my Grandma just started calling him Brownie. Destiny got hers as it was by destiny I got her. She was originally sold but then the buyer backed out. I didn't have the money to get her when she became available again but surprising events happened and I was able to get the money and go get her. Harmony got her name as I went with a musical theme for the pups and I wanted a name some what similar to her mommy Destiny. Hershey got his name because he loves giving kisses and he is a chocolate yorkie. The kisses part is what really sold us on the name. Gracie got her name as I wanted something feminine and it it was only by God's grace that everything fell into place and we were able to get her. Trinity got her name as I wanted something to go along with Destiny and Harmony. Since she was the third generation it fit perfectly. Kiwi I again went with themes for the pups, a fruit theme. |
