Puppy Has vomited food.. Hi All I took Waffles in for her check up on Monday. Told her vet she had thown up food a few mins after eating. Vet said ok just keep an eye on her. Puppys do that some times. Well yesterday she was eating. Kids went in to play with her when she was done. I think she got to excited or whatever.. she threw up what she had just ate. She kept dinner down fine. This morning Hubby got up with her at 530am gave her breakfast, she threw it up. Shes playful, peeing, pooing. 16 weeks old. Why does she do that? This is only the 3rd time. |
You need to get a 2nd opinion throwing up all the time after you eat isnt normal. I can understand if the vet said that after only one or 2 times but more than that there is a pattern and something is going on |
When she throws up, is it just food, or is there mucous or colored liquid with it? And how are her stools? At 16 weeks, could be she's just eating too fast, then playing and upsetting her stomach. Rocco did it a few times when he was a pup. |
Either she is eating to fast and the running around to much after a meal and upsetting her stomach, or she could have food sensitivties and the food she is on doesn't settle to well in her stomach. I would get a different opinion. |

Jimmy did this a couple times last week. Was only after he ate too fast and started playing. |
I would try slowly switching her food to maybe something with less protein. I have noticed that Oz tends to throw up after eating with the "good quality" high protein dog foods. When I had him on the "lower grade" food he NEVER threw up. I would not worry too much until you try switching foods or if she seems lethargic or is losing weight and not going to the bathroom regularly. However, do monitor her and take her to the vet if you feel it's warranted. |
That makes me feel better. I think she does eat to fast. It's like its a race. We've only had her since the 14th of this month and she's been to vet 3 times. Lol is not like she's neglected. This is one loved baby. I'll watch her. She does it again ill call vet. Their on speed dial. :) |
I really would get a second opinion. I do not want to scare you I just want you to be sure nothing is going on. Have some blood panels done and maybe bile acid testing. I just would not want to take a chance that it may be something else. |
You may need to give him smaller amounts of food more often. Try to keep him from playing too much after eating. Don't change his food now. He is still getting used to his new home. |
Sorry I meant she. |
I am certainly no expert but sounds like she is just eating too fast if she is only throwing up food. One of my cats does this and my yorkie does this with water a lot. There are these bowls, called slow feeders that help them to eat more slowly. Here is a link to one at Petsmart. I have seen them on Amazon as well. Good luck. Thank you all. I actually video taped her eating today. Took her 40 ish seconds to eat her food breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I thinkshe eats way to fast. Didn't let boys near her for 30 mins after each meal. She did ok. I'll see if I can post video. It's funny. |

She sure enjoys her food! I think it may have been eating too fast and playing too soon. She sure looks like a healthy girl. |
