Need help training... Hello everyone I have been so sick latly that I really couldn't work with Brandy on her training.. I really need help.. Just when I think her potty traing is going right she goes under my couch which is a big problem.. I have tryied lots of things but I don't know what to do? I was thinking to take a class.. has anyone taken classes for training? I'm looking into the petsmart training classes.. if anyone has any ideas for me please help... I live in NY. |
When Yorkies get off track with potty training, you may need to go back to square one, and start again from the very beginning, like confining them to a puppy proofed room, or walking them every 1-2 hours then gradually giving them more time in between. I'd find a way to block her access to getting under the furniture. (Hope you're feeling better!):D |
Sorry about your health and just remember it can take a while to train a puppy,,Prissy is still a work in process but getting better each day, just stay consistent. |
Thanks I guess I have to start over.. I was looking into geting a small crate because she's going pee in her bed again.. so sucks.. she also must be mad at my husband because she pooped in his room..she never did before.. is crating a good way to start over? |
If you have been sick you may have missed some places where she has gone on the floor. Get a good carpet cleaner and try to get those spots cleaned. The scent just attracts her to keep going there and she thinks it is OK to go where ever. When Gracie was little I got a $80.00 Bissell rug shampooer. It's great for doing small areas. They sell a cleaning formula for pets and the shampooer has great suction on it. Anyway after you get the scent of all the accidents up you do need to start all over. It should not take as long because she will remember what you already taught her after you go over it a few times. I think there is a "sticky" her on YT about house training Yorkies that it might help to read and if you search the net you will find other ideas. General training classes are always helpful for dogs. Learning the basic commands to me is a must for the safety of your pet. Teaching a dog to sit, stay and come can save your pets life if at anytime she should get away from you. |

Maybe if you start taking her on some long walks a couple of times a day it will help settle her down some. Sometimes they just have so much energy that they don't know what to do with themselves. Running off that energy helps them to behave better inside. |

As I said I had to keep my bathroom rug hung on the side of the tub to keep it from being soiled. I wanted to have a small rug in the kitchen in front of the sink so I got one of those throw rugs that they call a "rag" rug. It doesn't have any of the rubber like backing. The things we go through for our animals! |
