How much do you pay for a teeth cleaning? Hi! I had both of my girls' teeth cleaned when they were spayed. I made an appointment to have my boy's teeth cleaned. The vet quoted me $800 (!). When I asked him why it was $500 more than he charged my friend when he cleaned her yorkie teeth, he said it was because my dog was a finished champion and he wanted to make sure that everything was done properly (her dog was a show champion too). Needless to say, I am pissed off. How much do you pay to have your dogs' teeth cleaned? |

Personally, I think everthing should be done properly whether it is a show dog or not. |
I just paid $363 for Ziggy's neuter and dental with 2 baby tooth extractions on 1/4/12. He's 3 years old. |
I pay about $250.00 and that includes the Blood Work I have done prior to the cleaning. |
I paid $450.00 for Harry's teeth cleaning and blood work last year. hugs, |
A dental With an exploratory non-spay we paid $800 at an AAHA accredited hospital. She was also microchipped. |
So if a dog isn't a finished champion he doesn't care if things are done properly? I usually don’t tell people to find another vet, but this guy sounds like he charges based on what people are willing to pay, and I can understand giving some people a break, but it sounds like he’s willing to gouge you! You're in Canada, so the prices could be different, but I thought $300-500 is common. |
Sorry you are being gouged. The fact your dog is a show champion or not, is a moot point in the health of a dog. Find another vet, get a second quote. All teeth cleanings should be professionally done in the best interest of any dog, show or not. |

OK, So I guess it pays to be in a small town in Texas. I think I paid prob 150.00 and that includes blood work. It is so nice to have something cheaper in small town USA. That was couple of years ago and my 2 male are going to get there cleaned and it will prob be even less than a 100.00 a piece without blood work. This is cause I have moved into a even more rural area and smaller town. You could almost take a vacation down here and still have your dog done. Whoa vets bills are high up North! There are some benefits living in rural Texas. |
Ok so I write like a hick from Texas. Do not watch ballgame and type!! The two dogs will get their teeth clean in a couple of weeks and it will be probably $100.00 apiece or less. Thanks |
The vet I take the rescues to here in southern Cali charges $150 with bloodwork, but not including extractions or meds. |

I shouldn't complain considering some people have been quoted well over $1000 in their cities. |
I just paid $224.00 for my CJ to be nuetered, 9 baby teeth pulled And a full cleaning. His blood work prior was 91.00. I hear from other ppl that he is extremely reasonable. |
I think around here it's like $300 for a regular teeth cleaning. Jackson had dental surgery on his canine tooth along with a cleaning so it was a LOT more so I am not sure what I would have paid for just a regular cleaning. But I've heard from a friend it's in the $300's. |
Around 100.00 in rural Iowa |

With pre labs,One x-ray, no extractions $300.00. Central Fl. medium size city |
I just checked with my vet today to see how much it would cost with blood work, and I was suprised that is only 149.00! I live in a rural area as well, but on the coast, close to the beach. Right now is Snowbird season, so maybe that is why the cost isn't outrageous. |
I cannot believe your vet would say anything like that!!! I would def look for a new vet!!! Not because of price but becuz of that comment. Every pet should be treated with the same care. At our clinic it runs 125-175 for the dental, another 50-60 for bw and fluids. I am lucky and get a 40% discount cuz i work there. It usually cost me around 100 total, for dental, bw, and fluids! |

I pay around $250 - $300 and that includes blood work prior to the dental. I don't remember the exact price, but certainly no where near what you were quoted. |
