Do your nuetered males...? Do they still "Hump" when they are over stimulated and do you just redirect or do something else to stop it? Max does it when there are alot of people here and they are all high energy, and Titus does it with his toy when he has played hard. |
Both sexes will still hump after they are "fixed". Personally it's a behavior I do not allow because it can lead to other inappropriate behaviors. When they start humping I just distract them and get them to do something else. If its a certain toy or object they like to hump, then I take that item away. |
Bogie has never done it and Jada did try to hump Bogie a time or two. I stopped it and told her no no and she hasn't done it again. |
Bubba is neutered. He humps every night after his dinner. Pulls out his little plaid bed and well ..... We don't pay any attention and he stops after a few minutes. It's no problem except he put on quite a show for the guests after diner on Thanksgiving and Christmas! |
Yoshi was neutered at 5 months, he is over 6 now and still humps toys and even my daughter's pekingese. We have tried to get him to quit but with Pebble he won't quit until we separate them. |
Thanks guys. I redirect too. It suprised me with the new guy today. I recognize Max's trigger (to much energy in the room) Now I recognise Titus's and will redirect him as well. It is really great to see Titus get more comfortable here though. Today is day 10 in our home... |
Yes we have a few toys that occasionally still get humped. It's usually from over enjoyment/excitement when killing one of his larger toys. I believe he's exerting his dominance over said toy. I usually clap to get his attention and then remove the toy if he keeps it up. |

Yes! Scoobers humped everything it was his way of once he became a semi confident dog (he was a rescue) establishing himself in our "pack" I was watching my young nephew...that kid falls down more than any kid anyone will every meet he is one of those that twists his legs and squirms and trips over his own feet all day (drives his poor mom crazy)... anywho every time that Duck (his nickname he also purposely would do this walk like a duck) hit the floor Scoober was on him humping him! It was so wrong and yet so funny! Scoobers would hump Princess' head every time she went into heat. He was also a marker...so he had to be leashed to me for a long time to train him not to mark. I still don't fully trust him in some places (wow he embarrassed me so much in pet boutiques for the longest time!) so he has a belly (bad boy) band. A lot of training has curbed the issue to all but nonexistent-oh to get him to stop humping the kids I used treats and food as in the kids gave him treats and fed him-they control food they were dominant-end of establishing pack order. |
