Hello and a question
 

Good Evening All.

Long time stalker and finally decided to come out of hiding. I am the mom of tweens and a furbaby. I am also a wife.

Giorgio is my baby's name and I love him to pieces, my DH bought him for me as a Vday gift and I am always thankful. Not sure if he's as thankful now since it seems like I buy more for the dog than him. Lol. Anyway.

A few weeks ago, Giorgio had started doing this sneezing thing and then it got weird because he was literally snorting. At one point he scared the crap out of me and the boys. On Monday, he was like he was gasping for air for like 10 seconds, I freaked and rushed him to the vet, in turn they put him on prednisone for four days. All was well, he ate fine and all so imagine my shock when I woke up around 5am and found that not only had my baby pooped three times he had also vomited. The first poo I saw was solid and I thought that was all, as I went to clean it I noticed there some on the back of his washable pad. I found the second pile of soft poo. I turned on the kitchen light and looked on his blanket, he had also vomited dinner but here is where it gets weird, I'm freaking out, he hikes up his leg to keep from stepping in his poo grabbed a toy from his bin and ran off like nothing was wrong.

In my mind I am thinking if poos again I will take him to ER after I drop my sons off at school. Well he did poo, twice. I took him to the University here. Well they did some blood work and everything came back ok except he has slightly elevated BUN (32) and ALT (115). The ALT is way past where it needs to be, the vet that saw him said SLIGHTLY. Well of course I asked questions, they were impressed with how organized I was right down to the sterilized container with the poop sample in it. Fecal test came back ok too. I asked about kidney failure and was told no. But a thought came to me after researching prednisone. Is it possible that the prednisone affected the test results, this just all seems weird, he has a good appetite, no table food. I am guilty of slipping him fruits and vegetables though. Right now he is sitting cursing me out because I am on my laptop and he hates that.:p

Hi there I am sorry to hear your Gorgio is having health issues. Here is a great link for videos on Kennel cough, reverse sneezing, collapsed trachea. I think Giorgio may have been reverse sneezing my Buster does it a lot. When he is having an episode I softly stroke his neck to try and calm the spasms or I hold a finger over his nose to block the air cycle so he breaths just through his mouth. It is like breathing hiccups where the air is going in reverse direction through the nose and out the mouth I think. A good place to ask these questions are in the sick forum as many helpful people check the threads there and can offer advice. Well, I don't have much advice, except that his original problem sounded like a reverse sneeze (my sister has a 4 lb Japanese Chin that does that sometimes. Scared the poo out of me the first time she did it when I was puppy sitting). Welcome, though! I hope your baby feels better soon!:)
