Flyaway Poop Hi, Bella's having a li'l problem that I'm not sure how to fix. :) She's 100% potty trained on washables (♥ T Bumpkins & Co ♥) Up until about a week ago, she would poop in the corner of her pad, and then pull the pad corner over the poop, and then go about her day (which I thought was very cute). Well...ever since we moved into the new house, she's STILL potty trained with no accidents, but...she has what I've titled "Flyaway Poop". She goes to her poopy pad (she uses one for poopy and one for teetee, don't ask me why). She'll poop...on her pad where she's supposed to, and then run off with the poop stuck to her bum. It then falls onto the floor, and she turns around, looks at it..and runs and hides under the couch. I have NO idea why she hides, because she's never received a scolding in her life. =/ She won't come out from under the couch until I've cleaned it up, flushed it, then gone over the floor with soap and water. Then she comes out of hiding, sniffs the spot where the poop landed, and dances in circles. I'm long-winded, sorry. How can I help her with this? I've already had my husband hold her while I clipped her bum-hair off (in case it was getting stuck to the hair)...but it wasn't...she just poops and runs off before it's all the way out. LOL I refuse to scold her or try to tell her she's not doing it right..because she IS...she runs over to her poopy pad from another room entirely, so she knows exactly where to go. If I scold her or teach her this isn't right....she'll be VERY confused on where to go potty. So..won't do that. Ideas? :p |
Well first, tee hee! Your wording made me giggle! I so know the feeling! Katie Scarlett tends to have those 'flayaway poops' stuck to her fur from time to time. We call them 'dingleberries.' Well my husband coined that term. LOL. Anyways, I have noticed they get worse when it comes time for a grooming where her hair is longer. I try to keep it trimmed back there as long as I can. But she too will sometimes run off before she is done. It's like she doesn't have the patience to 'finish.' :) I haven't scolded KS either. I didn't want her to think I did not want her pooping on the pads. As for her hiding from it, I have no idea. I think it's cute that she covers it up. It's like she is being polite! How sweet! She sounds like she likes things clean and tidy! I hope a fellow YT'er can help more than I. |
Have you tried spraying a little PAM...oh wait, never mind? :D Seriously, it's probably just a temporary thing. :) |
PAM?? Ewww. lol My husband said he thinks she is hiding under the couch because she feels like her poop is chasing her when it does that...and stays hidden until mommy comes and "rescues her" from her poop. Her 'bum hair" is clipped really short now and it still does this. It's definitely not 'stuck' in her hair...I think she just runs off before she is completely done and doesn't realize it's still 'in there' (sorry to be gross). |
:) I have seen 'cling-ons' myself...but not in a while. The situation self-resolved. Hard to describe further with dignity...:p She probably does freak out a bit when she realizes she's got 'company' but once she realizes what's just happened, she might be a bit 'embarrassed' too. I do think it will quit...:) |
She may be having somm poop troubles. Try adding a bit more fiber to her diet & see if it helps. It works for mine;) |
I wish I had some advice. I don't see there is anything you can do. She may wait until she is finished when she is older. Many of them are very sensitive to having something back there. I have trained my last two to come let mommie clean their hiney.:D |
