trial and error that's for sure. I think all of mine have been less stressed and better behaved at the groomers though, I think I take to long at it.
To me the biggest struggle is keeping the dog from moving and flinching when trimming around the eyes. I really need to get a table restraint or what ever they are called. Do you guys that groom just one or two dogs have a restraint. I also have bathed all my dogs in the shower, please tell me I am not the only one that showers with their dog:D | I held off buying the stuff til I could figure out which clippers would be best for my babies. But, I happened on to an excellent groomer which gave me more time to research. I have little a rechargeable trimmer I used on my dilute calico kitty but Brody doesn't like the noise. I use scissors for private parts, and clip nails. I trimmed Brody's ear tips before the groomer did 'cuz I disliked the way his former owners' groomer left all the hair hanging in his food.
I did shower with both babies once, but it was tricky getting everyone wrapped in towels and carried out after. Usually, I plop them both into their own side of the sink and wash them at the same time. Takes me about 30 minutes for wash and blow dry, including setup and clean up. |
