Do smoke alarms bother your Yorkie? My poor Moka, they drive her crazy. Even if one goes off on tv she starts to shiver and hide. She has always had very sensitive ears. Last night, we lost power and her shaking woke me up. I thought she was having a seizure. She started to shake BEFORE the alarm sounded (it always beeps when we lose power). How did she know it was going to beep? |
OMG, yes! My mother has burned stuff in our oven three times in the past few months and Jackson is deathly terrified of ovens and smoke alarms now (each time the alarm went off). So now I always tell my mom that my dog hates her cooking. He begins pacing and not really knowing what to do, then he goes under the bed. He cannot stand it. He even hides and acts weird when someone is using the oven at another house. |
Yes, Couver goes bizerk when our security alarm goes off. We had the security guys in and they were testing it and the smoke alarm and security alarm went off and he went crazy! I can understand though... it was really loud! |
Kaji's skittish as it is, smoke alarms just make it worse. |
I'm not sure if KS has ever heard a smoke alarm. Our alarm at the house has never went off since we got her. That tells you how much I cook...LOL. I am not sure how she would react. She is pretty decent with other loud noises like the vacuum and any sirens that go by on police cars or ambulances. |
Levi is such a weirdo. Our smoke detector doesn't bother him at all. Neither do fireworks. But doorbells...:p |
out of my 7 only Kalani. Poor thing she shakes and shakes and cant get close enough to me. Also my hubby's pager, when the batteries are low |

That made me laugh. It also make me think they remember a lot more than we give them credit for. |
Trixie stands underneath the dang thing barking and making as much noise as the smoke detector does :p |

Wow, only 1 out of 7. That's exactly Moka's reaction. I am convinced her ears are more sensitive than average. I'm just glad that it doesn't make her otherwise cowardly. Once it's over and she is convinced it's done, she goes about life as normal like nothing ever happened. |

Kiva would always bark like mad when ever she heard one....including the ones on TV....so i always got her outside so she would bark out there and then gradually calm down. she didn't act afraid she acted more like it was a loud noise that she didn't like and was telling it to get out of her house! |
Mine will bark a few times at smoke alarms, door bells, etc. But will quiet down within a min or so. |
