Whats up with all this licking???? We have officially had Milo for a week and a half now, Lola and him are getting along amazingly! They took to each other the first day and have become BFFs ever since! But my DH and I have noticed one strange behavior from Lola, every time Milo falls asleep, she goes over, lays next to him and licks him all over! Now she doesn't discriminate either, one time she will lick his ears, the next his legs, the next his face, and even his little bottom!:eek: I think it is so sweet and was wondering if anyone here has similar experiences or might be able to shed some light on to why she is doing this? Is it instinctual to clean him since he is still just a puppy? Even tho she is only 6 months old herself? Or does she just think he tastes good(lol)? Even after he got a bath she still did it! Oh and I should mention it doesn't seem to bother him at all, he actually seems to kinda like it, doesn't move, squirm or even open his eyes. Gosh I love these little babies and their funny little quirks!:rolleyes: |

Mine will groom each other, and groom the willing kitties, and the willing kitties...even the males...will groom each other and the Yorkies. It can be quite the licky kissy love fest here. In fact, so much so that I took video of Mia and Smokey, our long haired black male kitty...they really get into the grooming bit and when she gets done, he is a very 'spitty kitty'. ;) In my experience with cats and dogs, the behavior is natural and loving between them...and definitely preferable to aggression or fighting. :) |
This is so cute. It sounds like he is bringing out her little maternal side. You should try to get a video of it bc it sounds adorbs. |
My girls are always licking each others faces but no where else. It sounds like Lola is mothering Milo. So cute. |
Thanks guys, maybe I will try to get a video of it, cuz they are very cute together! I just can't believe Lola's growing up so fast! I knew they were going to get along just fine when the first day Milo was too scared to come off of his bed and Lola went and got all of her toys and brought them over to him and put them in the bed with him, I was a very proud Momma:D |
