Help-Max (Good @ Groomer) and Titus (the Antimax) I have rescued two yorkies now. They are both 8 years old, they are both 7 lbs. they are both as cute as can be and snuggley little guys. Titus was an owner turn in to the rescue, because the family had an elderly mother coming to live with them. He is a sweet dog in most ways. I have noticed he gets obsessed with squeaky toys and nips when you try to take it...we are working on that here. The bigger problem is the groomer. He didn't mind the bath:), he was fine with the drier:), but as soon as she tried to clip his nails or clip his face he tried to bite her:mad:. And not a little one..he was ready to dig in with those little teeth. He was a pretty spoiled baby at his previous home...how can I help him get better for the groomer? |
I don't really know. She "might" have to use a soft muzzle??? Have you tried to pretend like you are going to trim his nails at home and just not do it yet? Maybe massage his feet and toes and try to work with him that way. I am just guessing here... |
Good Suggestion That was my first thought to. He lets me touch him everywhere here at the house. I might try to play clip his nails but I can rub his paws all I want. He will let me touch his face everywhere but close to his eyes (you know right above the nose). I know we will work it through and this may be a long process. The groomer ultimatly used a soft muzzel this time, but I am hoping he dosn not need to be so stressed over time. |
I understand that you don't want him to be so stressed. I think it would be harder on them as they get older, too, so maybe time will help. |
Hopefully all your love and some patience on the groomer's part will help him to realize that these things don't hurt him and that he's ok. Sorry I am no help, but I think that you're on the right track and with time he'll get better:love: Bless you for rescuing those baby boys:) |
Yes, bless you for taking them and I know they will be fine..would love to see some pics of them.. |
