hyper just wondering if all yorkies are hyper? how to get them used to the ponytail thing mine wont let me...:) |
My Sophia is incredibly hyper too! I too am wondering about keeping the hairtye in the hair. My munchkin keeps pawing it out of her hair  |
Prissy is 16 weeks old and very hyper...I have tried the bows several times but it hasn't happened yet.. |
Ally was hyper until we got her a sister when she was 18 months. Ally just turned 3 years and Tia will turn 2 years in a week. Tia is incredibly hyper and I'm sure she has those stupid energizer batteries in her somewhere! lol As for the ponytail, I sit on the floor, bend my knees up a little and rest their head between them...like their head is resting on my knees. It keeps them still so I can work my magic. |
Sometimes they grow out of that, and are only hyper when appropriate, like during play. Some don't:laugh: My girls both grew out of the puppy hyper-ness, but they do still get excited every now and then. They're both about 5 1/2 years old. Neither one of mine can stand anything in their hair, but then again I never pushed the issue. I think if you stick with it and make it a good, happy time (treats when putting it in, etc.) then maybe your little one will get used to it and feel that it's a normal part of their day. OH and very importantly, get your puppy used to having it's teeth brushed. The younger you start, the better. I didn't do that and now it's a battle ROYALE to brushe their teeth, so I don't do it as often as I should:o I do use dental treats and a dental spray, but brushing is the best way to keep their teeth healthy and may prevent you from having to have them anesthetized for a cleaning at the vets. Good luck and enjoy your new baby:) Oh, and welcome:D!!!! |
Katie Scarlett is hyper as well, but with us the whole top knot thing was persistance, persistance, persistance. Just keep going at it. Do not let them down until you are finished. For me, I always groom in the same place...on our couch. After many months, Katie Scarlett knows if she is a good girl and is still she gets a treat when we are done. I brush, put her sweater/dress on, and do top knot last. When I start her top knot, she gets in a 'down' position and sits still for me. It took a lot of work, but I just kept at it and now she knows she has to be good. So the persistance and treat after worked for us. Good luck to you! |
