12 weeks & already violating stuffed toys? First dog. I guess I was very surprised that he was already "dancing" (what we tell our youngest) with his stuffed toys at 12 weeks. Is this the typical age for this or are we in for more than normal dance shows? LOL |
Some pups start early. Max was lifting his leg at 12 weeks. He danced very little and only with one toy, so we put the toy in the closet. |
I had Teegy for one day he found my black fuzzy winter boot. Need i say more. Two days got home a bunch of toys and he really liked "dancing" with this one giraffe. I ended up putting it in the cupboard until he was bigger |
Peyton was an early "dancer" too! Didn't bother me too much. He pretty much only does this with his Piggy. :D |
When I first caught Apollo doing it (around 15 weeks), I was a bit shocked...but I read that puppies do it to show dominance. Apollo only does it to toys that are bigger than him. Figures. |
My chachi did it at 8 weeks |
Yes, it seems that boys love to dance at an early age, they are just little horndogs. LOL |
Ziva is a high energy busy dog and has always danced. We tell her no and having Abby to play with has limited it. We mostly catch her in the evening (behind the couch) when things are winding down and she still has some energy left. Abby has never attempted it and looks at Ziva like she is crazy! |
I notice it is only the toy the breeder brought from home with the other dogs scent on it. LOL We were in pet smart yesterday and my daughter found a large long stuffed toy and said I bet Marley would love to dance with this one. The man standing next to me busted out laughing. |
Yoshi has always been this way and he has a huge monkey that really gets his engine going,,,my grown daughter nicknamed him Sir HumpsALot. |
Oh that is SO funny! Neither Ringo or Lucy have ever been 'dancers'. But my maltese, Casper, had a big stuffed Bunny that he loooved to dance with. He had that thing for YEARS. My Mother would just be horrified that her grandson was growing up watching Casper 'dance' with his bunny. I think I allowed Casper to continue just to drive her crazy. Anyhoo, one day we boarded Casper for some reason and before we brought him home - the staff washed all his blankets AND his bunny. (Yes, we sent the Bunny). Do you know he never touched that thing again? Ever. And he never had another friend like that Bunny again. RIP Casper and my long-suffering dear Mother! |
Joey had a favorite dance partner by the name of Big Red. Seeing a little 12 week old puppy dance is so funny, and we wondered about this, but later learned it was normal. In fact, all this dancing helps the testicles to drop. They were just like Fred Astaire and Ginger Rodgers and he loved to dance with her until about two months after his neutering surgery. Then he hung up the dance shoes. |
This thread really had me rolling with laughter. But anywho, Gizmo humped when he was 14 weeks, once, I said no. And he stopped. Than the little booger tried again, I stopped playing, said no, then rolled him over on his back and scratched under his little chin. Yay for the submissive pose. |

I feel very bad, seeing little Bubba do it is funny, but it is such a double standard. With the 2.5yr old lab, not funny, just uncomfortable. The lab does it to his bed, only because that size teddy bear would be difficult to find:p |
I am soooooooooooooooooooooo glad my girls aren't dancers! I love the way you guys are describing everything though. Sitting her laughing my head off!!!!!!! |
