Signalling my migranes? I've started to notice a pattern. Usually Lola is just fine chewing her toy under my desk when I'm at home or laying by my side, but there are times where she becomes unusually needy. She absolutely will not settle for anything other than in my arms or lap and refuses to leave me alone. She refuses treats or toys all she wants is mama. Then a few minutes later I start developing a migraine. I get them 2 to 3 times a week, sometimes triggered by my ridiculous caffeine use (I admit I'm beyond dependent and into real addiction). Is Lola signalling my migraines and telling me "Mama its time to lay down you're gonna have owies in a bit". She wont leave me till they're over too. Maybe I should have her registered as my Therapy/Service dog lol. Would be useful since my migraines are so bad I cant drive or move. Not sure if this is a big thing or not though. She does paw at my face when she does this so I think its her telling me something. |
This brought tears to my eyes! Yes she is so signaling you and getting ready for your migraine. What a wonderful little angel!!! This is why I am a dog lover! |
aaaw, love that... |
That is amazing! In fact this came across my desk this morning from Dr. Marcus, an acquaintance of mine. She's a neurologist (migraine expert), author and dog lover and she's currently looking for people who have migraines and dogs to understand more about how dogs can possibly alert their owners! Got Migraines and A Dog? Please Take My Survey – Dawn Marcus, M.D. Here she is on FB: https://www.facebook.com/FitAsFido?sk=wall I am 100% sure she would love to hear from you! |
I took the survey and sent her a message. Thank you for letting me know! |
I don't doubt Lola knows one is coming. I get them as well. Unless I am in the kitchen cooking, when I have one is the only time she will truly leave me alone. She's stayed in bed with me for an entire 24 hours & never asked for a thing. She really seems to know that is the time to chill. Lola's a very smart girl.:):aimeeyork |
That is exactly what she is doing, yes. I have no idea how they can know something is going to happen before it does, but they do. She's warning you of impending migraines. Brussels (our oldest, he's 11.5 years), acts the same as yours does right before my heart starts doing it's PAC ballet. Bella, whom we have only had for a few weeks, is already starting to behave much the same way right before I get a burn down my thigh from the bursitis in my hip. Dogs know things about the human body that we cannot comprehend...for sure. |
Truly amazing!! :thumbup::thumbup: |
:love: It is truly amazing what our dogs know about us. I had a few health problems last year, and my lab Charlie, that is normally borderline ADHD, was unusually calm and attentive. He would come over to me and just nudge my hand or leg with his nose. I was in a lot of pain and he knew it, he wasn't behaving carefree, instead almost being as gentle as he could be with me. He too just wanted to be near me, but not in his normal playful way. When I realized what he was doing, I cried, it was so moving. Even reading your story, I tear up, because I know how very special our companions are. :love: |
This thread makes me smile. For years people have laughed at me when I say my dogs know before I do, that I am sick. I have Lupus and my dogs know when something is going on. I suffer many related problems and they always seem to know. We have talked about this before and I even have told people to see their doctor when a pet seems to hone in on a body part. I am convinced they 'smell' or read our body better than we do ! |
