Is Tut eating to much? Tut seems to be eating a lot of food. I was told by a friend to leave food out all the time and he will eat what he needs. And another friend told me to feed him up to a 1/2 cup a day. But he seems to be getting a belly. How much should I feed him? He is around 2 pounds and 10 weeks old. Thanks, |
It is best with puppies for them to have food down all the time because of hypoglycemia and they are growing. Maybe this will help tell you about how much to feed him Dog Food Calculator. Every puppy I have had growing up had a little tubby tummy when they were a puppy but grew out of it. |
A puppy will not be overweight. What kind of belly? Are you sure he doesn't have worms? |
He doesnt have worms, the breeders we got him from had him checked before he was flew out to my house and my vet also checked. |

I, personally, am not a fan of free-feeding puppies, as I want to know that my pup is consuming food at regular intervals and I want potty times to be predictable as it makes training much quicker. |
I feed him Puppy Chow. I asked my vet and he told me that he was not sure. And I wish I could predict when he has to go potty but he waits to go when I put him in his time-out crate because he thinks that will make me get him out. |
10 weeks is still so young, and I remember my first yorkie puppy having a belly :) they're still growing after all. I know set feeding times helps with potty training, but at 10wks and 2lbs, I'm not sure if that's most appropriate. I'd definately keep forti-cal (or equivalent) on hand. Maybe those here more experienced with such little ones can recommend a feeding schedule to help with potty training, but also keep blood sugar from dropping ??? |
