question I was talking with my husband yesterday about how I want to get the stuff now that I know we will need when our puppy is here. He thinks I should wait until iafter we get the pup incase something comes up ( I get what he means) but I still think we need to have stuff like a collar and puppy pads already at our house... I need help figuring it out... help please. |
I would get the stuff now if it were me. I would want to be prepared for when the pup arrives. :) However, that is just my personality. I like to be prepared when I can. Food and water bowl, nutracal, puppy pads, etc. all good ideas. |
I personally would go ahead and get the bed, bowls, some toys, blankets, pads etc, but if your husband is wary something may go south, maybe leave the more personal items like the collar until you know what your puppy will suit? Congrats on your puppy btw! |
Get the stuff now. That way you get to go shopping and you'll be ready for your lil pup! |
No harm in starting to shop for your new puppy. No one waits for the human baby to be born before furnishing the room. Even if you only start at first by looking and making a list, finding coordinating colors, etc., so you can pick everything up once all details are final, just knowing who carries what in stock is wonderful. Besides, once your new baby arrives, you will want to spend your time with it. |
I started buying once I sent the deposit. For one, I was too excited not to & two it helped level the costs of all the stuff I bought by doing it here & there, plus I was able to catch sales, etc. over time. But that's just me...I can get excited buying cleaning supplies! Lol. |
I'd start shopping now, at least for the basics. Levi came with tons of stuff, but that didn't stop me from shopping like a shopaholic before I brought him home. :) |
I would get as much as you can before you get the puppy instead of after. |
I totally agree, get the stuff now. There will always be stuff you forgot, but at least you will have the basics and be ready for him :) |
i would get some basics now// there is always stuff to buy believe me |
Basics before then you can buy things like harnesses and stuff later |

But personally I would get the basics - the most important being the crate/carrier for transporting your Littlie back home!! I shall never forget the struggling, crying, sicky mess that was Harry on the long drive back home!! Happy shopping :D Sally + Harry x |
I bought the basics and bought inexpensive versions before I brought Max home. It turned out to be the best plan for me because I had no idea what was right for him. If you have had a YT before, then you will know more than I did. Something I wish I had the first night was an x-pen. Other essentials as noted above: piddle pads, bed, dishes, white karo or nutrical for emergencies. |

I believe Xpens is the best invention ever for a pup..keeps them safe when you are gone or really busy and gives them room to play..my babes love cat beds i guess they like the enclosure of it |
I shopped before I got Harley, I had too, I also brought a toy to the breeders once he was born so that his litter and momma could play with it before he came home, that way when I brought him home he came with something that smelled like family. It's still his favorite toy 2 years later. Plus I don't know how many times I set up and organized all his blankets and toys in his bed, I was nesting sooo bad, you would have thought I was pregnant! lol, But I agree with someone above who said that it splits the costs up. If you buy a little here and there, then it's not as bad. |
