did anyone else have this problem with their puppys! ? Now I knoq puppys chew on everythinggggggggggg they can find! but did anyones yorkie like to chew on hands and fingers? I really hope my baby grows out of this! ughhhh! |
When Chloe was a puppy she was the same way. She still LOVES to chew but we have taught her what she can and can't chew. Now we giver her the large sized busy bones / busy chewnola sticks. We also do rawhides for larger / medium dogs so that she can't chew them and swallow them. It satisfies her urge to chew and I can take any pieces she rips off away before they get too small. Also we bought many many strong chewer toys including a kong for her and so far have done ok. I swear by the kong. Nothing can keep her busy and distract her better than a frozen kong. |
Maybe puppy's still teething? You may try offering a chew toy when your baby starts in on your hands, if you've not tried that already. |

Teaching bite inhibition is also necessary. Your puppy will learn how to gentle with teeth: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/gen...nhibition.html |
Puppy kong with a bit of kibble stuffed inside to make noise and a very tiny bit of peanutbutter smeared near the opening where the kibble was put in to peak interest. Its worth about 20min of sanity for the yorkie mommie. |
whenever he does that i always put a bone in his mouth !! i'll try the kong. i always saw them at the pet store but never bought one. i definitely will get him one then! ugh we have a pomeranian who isnt the nicest. he is 7 years old now, he recently just started being one of the sweetest dogs since i am reallllyyyyyyy trying to teach him not to snip at anyone! and want to make sure my pup learns from the beginning ! |
I think a lot of puppies do that sometimes because we tend to play with them with our hands so its best not to do that and what I did when Callie was nipping a lot I would say no and squirt her with a water bottle. Also make sure you have a lot of different things for him to chew on. |
