Curiuos about dog food Has anyone ever heard of or given Chicken Soup For The:) Lover's Soul puppy or dog food? I grabbed a sample from a pet store a couple of weeks ago and my husband decided to give Ladybug a little of it. I don'tth know if she gobbled it so quickly because she was really that hungry or because it's really that great. She only eats Royal Canon and seems to enjoy it. My local pet stores only sell the 2.5 lb of Royal Canon for about $16 which doesn't last longer than about 16 days!! I see that the Chicken Soup puppy food comes in a 17 lb bag for $25. This is more cost effective but I would like some feedback if possible. I just want to do the right thing for my baby. I've looked at the ingredients for both brands. But it always makes me feel better to hear someone's who has actually had experience with it. Thanks!! |
Chicken Soup is a very decent food, IMO. :) It IS a Diamond food, and some are cautious about Diamond products. But I think it's a good price for a decent food. :) I also think RC is a decent food but the prices are completely outrageous, IMO. I feel you can find better products, or equal products, for a lot less money. I like Acana and get a 5.5lb bag for $14.99 and it lasts us a little over a month (eating 3/4 cup per day). Taste of the Wild was around $10 for a 5lb bag and I also was paying $10.99 for 5lbs of Fromm. Fromm and Acana are my personal favorites. :) Both foods are manufactured in their own facilities. I think Fromm is amazing in how they run business and it's a very small family owned company who has a lot of pride in their food - which I love. But those on a budget, TOTW and Chicken Soup could fit the bill. |

Maybe you could ask you local pet store to order the 10lb bag? After seeing another member on here talk about the savings of the 10lb bag of RC, I inquired at my local pet store. They didn't carry it, because with RC being breed specific, they didn't think they would sell enough, but they were more than happy to add it to their order for me. Maybe your store would do the same? Can't hurt to ask :) |

My Peke, 6 yr old has tried several foods and Blue Buffalo Life Source has worked the best for him, he is allergic to chicken and it was hard to find one that doesn't have chicken in it, now everyone brags about his beautiful coat and no more scratching....He also couldn't handle Royal Canin, Science Diet and several others...so glad that he is on BB,,I think we all need to check the labels and then make a decision,,so many have different opinions..as soon is Prissy my Yorkie is done with her puppy food I will have her on BB puppy also,,love the ingredients and reviews. This is just my honest opinion. |
Chicken Soup was all the rage when I joined YT a few years back, it wasn't easy to find, and when I found it, Joey hated it so that took care of that. :p I actually didn't think it smelled very fresh, how a food smells is important to me, and I sometimes wonder how long that particular bag was on the shelves. We use Royal Canin, and I buy the large 10 pound bag, I'm not sure how long it lasts because I occasionally feed my sons bigger dogs when they visit, but it does last a long time. The bag is great and keeps the contents fresh until Joey finishes it. My foster eats another brand and the bag falls apart before he's finished, so I keep that bag inside an empty bag of RC. His brand of Wellness is even more expensive. Sometimes things cost more because of a lot of hype and sometimes they cost more because they are better, and in my opinion, I think in this case RC is better. :) |
i tried it....my girls didn't like it |
