Rescue remedy Has anyone had any success with rescue remedy? Gizmo and I have been in the car a lot lately and he pants, turns in circles and wines the whole ride. Are there any side effects? Happy New Year everyone :) |
I have used RR with Bogey with some success. But I have found that the ThunderShirt is like a miracle for all types of anxiety from car ride to thunder and fireworks. Have you ever seen them? There is an entire thread about how well they work and I think you can now buy them from Petsmart. But I have to add that neither alone did the trick. I've been most pleased when I have used the TS and RR together. It's amazing the change and how well he does. As for you original question about side effects. I have seen none with Bogey and have never heard of anyone else mention any. Good luck and take a look at the link :) http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...p-anxiety.html |
I gave Eddie some Rescue Remedy just last night for the fireworks. He also had his Thundershirt on. I haven't heard of any side affects. |
Just glad to see what RR is, I had no idea,,Yoshi always got carsick and Benedryle helped with that for a while and then the vet gave him Hydroxizine..I hope all works out ok... |
It seems like RR works well for some, but not for others. I have heard great things about the Thundershirt. I hope you find something that works :). |
My family has used rr for years... great for humans and pets. We don't have issues in the car but I do give it to the girls before giving baths. I haven't used tt but one of my friends says it really helps calm her golden. |
I tried the thunder shirt and it didn't work for Gizmo. Thinking of getting a prescription from the vet if rr doesn't work! |

We like the Thundershirt too. I use it mainly for Teddy during storms, but a few times I have used it on each of the boys as a jacket on a walk and I noticed they were very calm around triggers that typically would get them excited. |

Its actually spelled Hydroxyzine. Yes, it can be given for motion sickness. Im a nursing student and one of my patients was on it :) ( If you think about it the medication is used to decrease nausea and vomiting therefore helps with motion sickness!) |
