Question My little one-year old yorkie, Gidget, continues to have mostly tiny, little pieces of poop which is very unlike our three-year old yorkie, Abigail, who has normal look, regular-sized poops. Does anyone else have this problem? They both eat pretty much the same things and I can't help but wonder if Gidget's intestinal tract is extremely small. They are both pad-trained and it seems so odd to find these tiny little pieces instead of regular ones. Anyone with this experience? Frustrated... |
Interesting that you have this, too...we have been wondering similarly. Our slightly littler Yorkie has poopies about twice the size of our slightly bigger Yorkie...diameter and quantity. The doggies are not that much different in size or weight...1" diff in height (leg length) and .5" in neck and hip measurements...all else is the same...probably no more than .5 lbs diff between them. We have been seeing this "problem" since we got the second Yorkie in August and have finally decided their poopie sizes are just 'normal' for each of them...regardless of how odd it seems. Don't know if that helps...;) - Cat |
It really seems weird to have a discussion re: size of poop but our larger girl usually just has one or two at most pieces when she poops which are much, much larger than the sometimes as many as 6-8 tiny, separated pieces that the smaller one produces. They are many times not much thicker than a piece of spaghetti and it just makes me wonder if something is wrong with her. |
Scooter occasionally has tiny, thin poopies. I just thought it was because he's.....well tiny. He seems to be "regular" so I don't worry. |

LOL, poo is poo and it all depends on how much they eat..no really, there is a big difference in Yoshi, my 6 yr old peke and Prissy my 14 week old yorkie..I am just thankful that they eat enough to poo...I have always wondered about this.. |

Hmm interesting question. I really don't know the answer to this, but from my understanding, you only need to worry if things have changed. If at one time poops were much wider and now they're skinny, it could be an indication of a tumor, but if they've always been skinny, I guess it coud be narrow intestines. Lots of the dog food they are making is so digestable that poops are really small, and that's why some people think giving additonal fiber is important. |
