Your Dog Goals for 2012 What are some of your doggy-related goals for 2012? With us, I've been slacking on doing all of these training classes that I've been wanting to take. We did one agility class in 2010 and had so much fun, and when our trainer moved, we have yet to do another. Something always happens... I don't like the time schedules, the cost, the distance, etc. So, anyways, once I get my school schedule and figure out all that... At some point in 2012, I'd like to do: - Rally-O - Nose Work - Agility II - Dock Diving - Get his CGC! At least do one or two of those. Of course, our main goal is to always have fun, stay healthy and happy. :) But yeah, those are some doggy things I've REALLY like to finally do!! Oh and also continue working on recall. I have been slacking where I used to go out every other or day or so on the long line and practice coming when called. So yeah recall training. |
Ziggy's getting neutered on 1/4 and Ella's getting spayed i think on 1/14. |
mine could also use some new training |
Mine are Get Callie 100% back on her feet Go to dog parks more again Doing some more training Going for move walks |
Mina needs her baby fangs pulled,so not looking forward but it needs to be done. Sharpening her obediance skills. Fit more exercise in for the both of us and that may mean laps in the house during the cold months. |
Dental cleanings. Grrr. Brushing teeth more often. Having fun! :animal36 |
Tummy problems solved, and we are looking into getting Gizmo in agility or dock diving, or getting him to become some type of therapy dog. There was an autistic boy at the dog out door mall once and Gizmo just bonded so much with him. The mom/caregivers couldn't believe how much the boy was interacting and showing brain cognition with Gizmo being there. |
My New Year's resolution is to brush the boys' teeth at least 3 times a week :) |

To keep up with her!:D |
My goals...hmm... Well, we'll be moving in a couple months, her first time, so my goal is to really get her comfortable there (where ever it may be:rolleyes:). I want to use her smart lil brain more & would like to find new ways to challenge it/teach her new tricks. I want her to become even better potty trained. She's very back & forth, I want to keep her going good and not look back! I need to get on a good dental regimen with her as well & figure out what's best for us. I need to at least maintain her weight if not lose a pound or so. And let's not get started about me.:p |
Oh My doggy goals; a novel concept. Find a dang indoor place to take the pups dock diving! Finish Razz's GCH Help Magic heal up - maybe then CDX? Start dance class with Razz |
hmmmm.... first goal....get her teeth cleaned second goal....keep up with brushing her teeth third goal....finally pick out her cloud 9 bed lol |
What's dock diving? I would like to get Geno completely potty trained aka using the pee pee pads 100% of the time. Take him on a lot more walks. Well when it gets warmer out. I hate having him out too long in the cold. Get him completely comfortable at my apartment. Teach him a few more commands (stay, come) and tricks (dance, beg, roll over, wave bye, play dead) |
My goal this year is to get my boys a dental. They are 6 years old and my vet told me that they would need one this year. Im looking about mid-summer to do that. Not a huge goal, but definitely something I need to do! |

But Dock Diving is when a dog jumps off of a dock to go retreive a toy in the water. The jump if you are doing competitive dock diving is measured in how long the jump was, and for vertical competition how high the dog jumped. It's a blast ; if you and your dog like to get wet, you both have an awesome time! |
Ohhhhh ok I've seen competitions on tv of those. But Yorkies really train for that? I just thought that was for bigger dogs especially labs. |
my dog goal is to get another yorkie! my dear sweet Kiva died on Oct 2 and the house is way too empty and dead. also maybe by the end of the year a yorkie rescue too. i want to have quite a few. i have so much love to give... |

It is open to all breeds and all dogs large or small. You don't have to compete, but it is a fun time for you and your dog! Yorkies make excellent Earth dogs, they are a trial to train in obedience (but so worth doing), they are great hikers and explorers, they can be trained to dance with you, almost anything you have a great interest in, they will happily be by your side sharing in!. |

rip kiva. that sounds like a fabulous plan!!! you will be spreading much needed love. |
i want to get me a girlie but i want her to be a rescue. i cant stop thinking of all the puppy xmas death stories on here the last couple days (please do ur reasearch. it could save a furr babie.) now i understand why the yt regulars get so upset. anywho more training with my furr babies and finish my grooming studies to get my certificate! |
Good topic! I want to teach Jillie a few more tricks. Already got a good start -- she learned the sneeze trick yesterday after a week of practice. I'd also like to start her in nosework. She loves having a job to do. I've been holding off because it's kinda nice not having to crate her while Eddie searches and vice-versa, but I'm being selfish. Eddie needs to recertify for his therapy dog work in June, so we'll be brushing up on his leave-its and loose-leash walking. |
