UNWELCOME guest! 2 Attachment(s) I am so stinking glad I look around before I let my two pups out the door. Last night, something just didn't look right in the big oak tree out back so I went to grab the flashlight. Couldn't find it but the camera was there so I figured when the flash went off I'd be able to tell what it was. |
OMGoodness!!! I am SO glad you checked the tree before you let your babies outside!! I also worry about this, especially when Betty Boop needs to go outside at 2 a.m.! Have you seen owls in your yard before?? |
OMG...you can barely see that owl...lucky you were keeping an eye out for your babies!! |
Not owls...hawks  We have two that hang around every now & then & I always gather the pups inside when I see them since I've heard too many horror stories. Even though Tuffy is 7 pds & Bella is 11 I don't want them trying. This was weird, I just knew that limb didn't have a bump there. It was quiet too & not very frightened of humans. I yelled & it didn't budge. I wound up taking about 6 shots with the camera before it took off. |
Oh my i am so glad that you checked out that tree..i hear owls sometimes at night but my babies are safe inside :) |
How scary! |
OMG Sherry thank God you were alert. That owl would have tried to get your babies!!! Even if he hadn't been able to pick them up he could have injured them severely if not fatally:eek: |

2 Attachment(s) I lightened the picture so I could see it better, it's really a beautiful picture. Glad your babies are okay, and it's a good thing we have pee pads! |
Tuffy thinks pee pads are just for Bellas' use :( I thought about a bright spotlight. Then I started researching & it seems the barred owls are attracted to lights & fires. I've been using my firepit the last few nights since it's cooled off a little here in Florida. PLUS, nesting season starts in January. Good grief... |
What a blessing your mommy instincts kicked in it could have been an awful tragedy. |
Oh wow glad that you saw it. We have one that seems to come back every winter. Here is a picture from last year. I can't believe I got this good of a picture. I was pointing the camera and it was pitch black and when I thought I had it where it was at I snapped the picture. I have only seen it once this year and it flew away fast. http://pic20.picturetrail.com/VOL89/.../396406158.jpg |
That's crazy! I never even thought of that. We have a couple of hawks around here too - mostly in the spring, so I try to be very careful when putting Jack out - but that is a big owl! Beautiful picture though but scary for sure! |
So glad that you noticed the owl, they can be so dangerous...we have to look out for all of the danger so our furbutts are ok.. |
Owls scare the crap out of me!! I hate it when I hear them and my girls are outside. We have hawks too. I worry to death about mine. I know you where scared Sherry. Thank goodness you knew something was up there!! |
So glad your watching out! It's very difficult to spot them at night too. I was out back with the girls two days ago around 3 o'clock and scared an owl off my neighbors tree. I rushed the girls back inside. I don't take Jilli Ann, who will be 16 weeks tomorrow, out in the evening at all. It's a shame we have to be on guard all the time like this. Thank goodness for potty pads at night. |
