Doll cradle, hmmm. Oh wait Mina has my doll crib from when I was a little girl. I let a side down and covered it like a couch. Oh and made throw pillows for our bed to tie it all in. Electric tooth brush,,,,,do you think that I could teach Mina to use a water pic? It would be sooooo much easier than a toothbrush. |
Diapers for me. At Thanks giving Dinner I couldn't get Hope to potty outside. I needed to put her down on the floor and the whole family was laughing at me and asking why I had that on her. I said so she doesn't pee on your floor..... seconds later they wern't laughung cause they witnessed her pee with her diaper on!! It was so funny. |
Yep, all the time!! From strollers, to car seats, their huge wardrobe, bows.... But my friends have gotten accustomed to my "weird" dog obsessions now, but still laugh all the time! |
dog purse (carrier) dog glasses dog rain coat dog shoes pull ups for female in heat (cut tail hole all by myself) crown Barrett for Elvis (what!? he's the king) bottle spring water for dog to drink on the go nose hair trimmer to glide over ear to keep hair on them short |
It's easier to say, what have they not made fun of--nothing! lol Everyone one who knows me and my dogs say that they want to come back as one of my dogs! I take that as the highest compliments. :D |
So many people just do not understand what a dog needs or what a human needs to help keep their dog happy and well cared for. For some people a stroller may not be necessary but for others who travel and go into public places it is a wonderful help to both human and dog. People can roll their eyes all they want. My dog is secure and safe in the car as well as out in public. I cringe whenever I see dogs loose in a car in a parking lot and pray that no one has to slam on the brakes on the way home with those precious doggies. I also got the eye rolls because of the bows for Gracie's hair. Well, I can't say there is a safety reason for those but she sure looks cute in them! |

My grown children have laughed at their bottled water (but they understood when I explained the reason for bottled water,) their Christmas outfits and sweaters, but they really laughed at their Christmas jammies! I knew they would laugh when they saw them in their Christmas jammies; I laughed too! They looked so cute and funny in them! My daughter asked me if they were my babies now that I don't have any kids at home, and I said of course they are! My DH just laughs and shakes his head. He knows that I've always wanted yorkies and so he humours me! Especially with everything I've bought for them! LOL Tomorrow, 12/31, we will have had Sophie & Sam for 8 weeks! We love, love them!!! |
Well I get laughed at more for the quantity of things I buy, rather than the items themselves. Most likely halloween costumes were the worst. lol But I had a business idea to redesign a dog toilet, that got a lot of laughs and puns. But the idea wasn't patentable, so I'm no longer submitted to jokes about how "crappy of an idea" it is. lol I'm a TA at Dalhousie's school of Management and I'm often talking to entrepreneurship classes about the importance of finding a need when creating a product. They all laugh at me when at first when I mention the idea of dog insurance. Then I tell them about the specialty store I shop at and the purse I bought for Harley. They all think I'm a crazy dog lady! :D |
My family joke around that I LOVE my dogs more than my children....LOL so I tell them my children had all that when they were young, why not for my dogs... stroller, car booster seat, health insurance for the dogs, beds, clothing, special food, etc...and getting a bigger bed so Harry can sleep sideways...:p:p:p:D hugs, |
I wouldn't say that people "make fun" of me...most everyone I know loves Levi and all of his things. Everyone loves seeing all of Levi's clothes (even my big, country Harley-riding stepfather likes for Levi to wear clothes) and thinks that the car seat is a good idea. |
Jewelry :) |
People did, and still do, think I'm nuts for getting Princess her hockey dress-though they should know better! For Christmas I unexpectedly found her a bikini on clearance so picked it up. No one "understands" that since it wont be cold out.:p Also, I have bought her some girl baby clothes at the Salvation Army, etc. & people think I'm nuts for that, too. I do think it's funny I walk through the baby section at any store...you never know.;) Too bad I can't go living my life trying to please everyone else-I'm here to please Princess!:p;):D |
This is a great thread idea! It's tough to come up with new ideas, and I don't recall seeing this particular one before. :) * One of those front backpack carriers where the dog's legs dangle. Seemed like a fine idea when we got it, but peer pressure led me to stop using it. Well, they do look a little silly. * Nutrical. Seriously! A big-dog lover made fun of me when I described it as a "high energy paste." She'd never heard of it. I'll always carry Nutrical on trips! * Coats and booties. We live in freakin' Alaska, and there are still people who say "Dogs have fur. They don't need coats." Ridiculous. * Topknots. They see it as embellishment, not a necessity. Let them try grooming a Yorkie. * Home-cooked food. |

My kids will say the same thing. I just tell them that they were very well cared for and trained and so are the dogs. All of my family members are well cared for by me,it is my job. Sewing for my DDs brought me alot of joy and so does sewing for not only my furbaby but I have made things for a couple of friends furbabys. I even have given baby gifts for new furbabys. |
I got made fun of because they have their own closet and more clothes than me. I dont care what anyone thinks. I guess the funniest thing was when I showed them all Molly's hat and scarf. They thought that was the dumbest thing until I explained to them that she has no hair on her ears so she needs protection and besides , she looks so cute in it |
The only thing I've really been laughed at was the dog boots and the pet insurance. The boots I got when I first got Riot and it takes so long to put them on him and he hates them so much it's not worth it just to out and potty. The pet insurance people think is ridiculous but Riot got so sick about a year ago we almost lost him. There were two emergency overnight vet visits, a couple check ups, some IV fluids and a three night stay in puppy ICU with bloodwork and x-rays and all of that plus all his medication and I never would've been able to handle it without the pet insurance. I still had to scramble to scrape money together to pay since they just reimburse you, but it's already paid for itself for at least 2 years. |
The stroller! My sisters were very judgmental about that. Just jealous I suppose. ;) It sure was GREAT to have at the airport though. I get made fun of for all their clothes and bows too. I don't care! :p My puppies need and deserve all they receive!!!! :D |
You Bought your dog a WHAT ? I have bought and made a lot of things for my Yorkies. My sisters don't laugh because one has Chihuahuas and a Yorkie, the other Sister has toy Poodles and two little rescue mixes (Yorkie & Maltease ? and Yorkie and Whatever) But my grown sons laugh about everything from bows to the car seats etc.. But God love my boys, both gave me gift cards to PetsMart ! LOL |
Stroller, kwigy bo and hair products...lol. |
