| AbbyMax | 12-22-2011 05:53 AM | Inconsiderate Groomer My two puppies are learning the grooming processes. They have seen the same groomer 3 times. She groomed my previous Yorkie too, so I have know her for a long time. We have exchanged holiday cards and when she had knee replacement surgery I send a treat basket from the puppies.
They are puppies and do not care for the clippers. Max is pretty good, Abby likes to make a fuss. We discussed letting Abby hear the clippers and not using them for awhile - no worries. As long as she was able to trim their nails and ears (the ears I do in between grooming, the nails I do not like to do) that was good with me.
Saturday the groomer was supposed to come and groom my pups. Well, the 11:00 appointment time came and went. I left several messages for her until 1:00pm. She has never been late without calling before. The first two calls were checking to see if she was still coming. The next two were more of concern that she was okay and no one in her family was sick or injured.
I called to check on her on Sunday and Monday as I had not heard from her and was very concerned that she was hurt or ill and my messages reflected this sentiment.
Tuesday evening I check the mail and get a letter from her, yes, a letter! The letter was dated on Saturday (the day she was supposed to come to groom the dogs). She said she was more comfortable writing a letter than calling. In the letter she said she was not comfortable grooming puppies and she would no longer be able to groom my puppies. I could take them to a groomer shop to get the "trained" and then after a year call her to set up grooming again.
WHAT?!?!?! She had 6 weeks from the last time she groomed them to call me and let me know she was not comfortable.
I am okay with her not wanting to groom puppies - they are wiggly - and appreciate that she knows her level of comfort. But come on, not even a courtesy phone call to tell me she was not coming on Saturday! If she was going to write a letter, she could have done it before she missed the appointment. And, no apology for missing the appointment or wasting my time as I waited for two hours for her to show up. She did not return any of my phone calls.
I called yesterday and left her a message (she will not pick up my calls) to let her know I got the letter and understood why she did not want to groom the pups, but that I was very disappointed in the way she handled the situation. I was not rude and wished her happy holidays and a great 2012.
I guess I should be glad she did this before I gave her her Christmas bonus - it's an extra $100 bucks for me and the pups. |
