Pet Insurance: PetPlan vs. Embrace Hello All, Which pet insurance do you perfer PetPlan or Embrace? I will be welcoming a yorkie pup into my home soon and decided to start looking for Pet Insurance. While researching online I came across this article www.consumersearch.com/pet-insurancewhich lists the top three pet insurances (the third one is more of a discount plan). Do you agree that PetPlan and Embrace are the best out there? Is there another you would recommend? Thanks :) |
Bumping I'm bumping. I have never bought pet insurance. Luckily I have never needed it. |
I have PetPlan on my 1 yr old Roxi. The reason I chose it is because they cover genetic diseases. We discovered at the time of Roxi's spay that she has mild liver disease. I am so thankful that I had it...I wouldn't have been able to pay for all the bloodwork and specialty hospital surgeon if I hadn't had it. :D |

Roxi Ree, thanks for your post. I'm just a bit confused about pet insurance. Do you the pet owner pay out of pocket first for the vet service and then submit a claim or do we treat the insurance like human insurance and show the card at the time of visit and just pay the co-pay? |
I hadnt thought about pet insurance for Smokey until I read this thread and reminded myself about the $5000 I spent this past summer and fall on diagnostics/ treatment for my elderly greyhound and whippet. I went to the PetPlan site and it looks pretty good. I would also welcome comments about which plan is best. I guess that since Smokey's undescended testicles and subluxed patella have already been diagnosed, that makes them pre-existing conditions ? Of course it does.. Daddy is traditionally a day late and a dollar short... sigh... POOR Daddy |

Sounds like getting pet insurance isn't an option these days....it's a must! Would you recommend me getting something that covers routines and vaccinations? Or should I just put that $$ aside for when it's needed. |
I have PetPlan for my youngest, Pfeiffer...and I love it. This is an older thread, so the info may not be totally current - but it's a great guide for evaluating insurance. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/die...rifaj-dvm.html |

Now on to my next adventure.....narrowing down which local vet I want to take care of my baby. Let the interviews begin! |
I use VPI and have been happy with them. |
We have been totally happy with Embrace. Cost about $40/month. They also have a wellness plan and you can choose your deductible. Good luck! |
I have PetPlan and I really like it. Susan |
