Duh!! As me and my lil girl were out running errands this morning I had a guy come up to me and pet her, I am ok with that but then the conversation got intersting: Guy: Awww cute puppy! Me: Thanks! Guy: Why does anyone put sweaters on dogs?!? Me: She is 3pounds, we live in Missouri, its cold out there!! Guy: Shes a DOG!!! Me: So Guy: She has FUR! Me: No, actually she has hair and no undercoat like some dogs do Guy: Well, I dont get it Me: You have a coat on dont you?? Guy: ----stupid look--- said nothing and walked away! Me to the "dog" Huh, guess we told him! "dog" RUFF!! My dog is not a dog, she is my baby and if you want to be stupid I can make you feel that way....just sayin |
Even after your very kind, concise explanation, he still didn't "get it"...what a moron! I wonder if he gets that dogs need food, shelter, etc., or doesn't that matter because they are "DOGS"?! Let 's just hope this idiot wasn't there shopping for a dog he owns. Heck, I'd pitty the goldfish he'd own. |
I reached the point (when Harry was about 5 months old!) that I decided I was never, ever going to get into these conversations again.....I had far more important things to do (like shopping!! :D). I got sick of - what breed is 'it'....how old is 'it'.....where did you get 'it' from...you get the idea!! :) And what's the point? You'll probably never see these people again in your life - and if you do, they'll know not to ask again! ;) Just let them all get on with it - and thoroughly enjoy your gorgeous, warm little Littlie! Sally + Harry x |
It beoms a game to my husband when people approach us regarding Gizmo. He counts how many times I raise my eyebrow or ground my teeth!:p |
People just try to make conversation and they don't know what to say. I get countless comments about Kirby being a boy even with a pink collar. I get people asking if she is a puppy and she is full grown They think she is a poodle and she's a bichon My bichon wears clothes sometimes too. I live in the south and it's warm but I think they look cute dressed up sometimes. |
You may have educated him more than you think, but for a guy to admit he learned something from a female? Takes a real man to do that! ;) |
I cant stand people who talk about a dog wearing clothes like oh my gosh a dog is wearing clothes it must be the end of the world. My parents didn't get it until they saw Callie shaking when she was cold and now they get it. |
My dog is not a dog, she is my baby and if you want to be stupid I can make you feel that way....just sayin LOL... I say this all the time. |
Eh, I think a lot of people don't understand that all dogs don't have a double coat of fur... Once I explain that their hair is like human hair, everyone thus far has gotten it... but then there are a lot of stupid people out there, too... |

My Maxie (6# 2 years) wears a sweater most of the time. Have you ever laid on the floor and noticed how much colder it is down there? My 10# boy doesn't like clothes, but will tolerate sweaters when it's near freezing on our morning walk. Most folks who stop us to talk are very nice and just want to tell us how cute my boys are. I haven't encountered that many rude folks --at least not yet. |
Very good!:D |
Hmmmm...... He would really think I'm crazy then. I live in Illinois and in the dead of winter Abby has a coat (sometimes a coat & sweater) on AND boots! :) There are probably others here that do the same.............aren't there? :D |
