5 months and 6 pounds My little Timmy is turning five months and weighs exactly 6 pounds. How much bigger do you think he will get? He is such a cuddle bug and loves being carried and sleeping on my lap. I hope he doesn't get to big for my lap! I've only had him a couple weeks and We love him so much ! |
I doubt he'll get too big for your lap. He'll probably be a bigger yorkie, but just be grateful that he is healthy. Look at it this way. He isn't so fragile that you have to worry all of the time about him being injured.:) |
Holly was about 5 pounds at 5 months and now she is 8 months and 7 pounds. She is still so small. She cuddles with me lots! |
He wont get to big for your lap, mine is 16 pounds and still loves being in my lap and laying across my chest :D |
If you love your dog.....what does it matter. |

My Cozy grew after she had her litters. She is now 16 pounds and yes she needs to go to Jenny Craig. Prior to pups she was a slim 10.5 pounds. Just more to love. Her offspring though stopped growing between 6 and 8 months. I keep in touch with most of their owners. FYI I had a 120 pound golden retriever who would crawl in my lap when I was sitting in the recliner and put his head on my shoulder. He felt he was stll lap sized. He would lay on top of me on the of a too it was slightly difficult to get out from under him once he was a sleep though. No matter what size your pup becomes once a luv bug always a luv bug. |

Lol, I carry around my 15lb bichon and my arms feel like noodles sometimes. haha. But I'm guessing he'll just be a bigger Yorkie, and that's ok because its just more to love!!!! :) |
Bailey was around 6 or 7 months old when we got him. He weighted in at 6.6 pounds. Now he's around 9 months old and weighs closer to 8 pounds. I can sling that boy around like a sock when we play fight. Even Natalie carries him around in her arms. I'd say you're looking at a 10 pounder perhaps. Perfect size if you ask me!!!! |
We have two Basset Hounds 55 and 57 lbs and they both think they're lap dogs. |
My boys had the strangest growing patterns (or non-patterns!). Dexter was 2.2lbs and Fletcher was 1.8lbs at 9 weeks old. At 1 year old, Dexter was 4.4lbs and Fletcher was 6.2lbs. During their 1-2 year period, Fletcher grew to 8.9lbs and Dexter grew to 5.5lbs. Now Dexter hoovers b/t 5.5lbs & 6lbs, But Fletcher I got him fixed later in life (at 4 years old) and now he shot up to 13.5lbs. He still is my lap puppy! I don't carry him around much, but luckily for me, he's not a needy dog that I need to carry around, he's way too curious to be held. He fills up my lap and spills off the sides depending on how he's sleeping, but believe me he can still curl into the tiniest ball and fit completely on my lap and stare up at me with his deep brown, all the love in the world eyes! :) |
Ladybug is 5 1/2 months and weighs 6.4 lbs. She has a full tail and long legs, but to me she's still a small dog. I do like that she isn't a fragile little thing. I was hoping to have a dog that was right around 4-5 lbs, but when you think about it, don't we all love our skin family even if they aren't the perfect weight? I know I do, so I don't even think of Ladybug as being too big or too small cause I loooooove her so much!! Enjoy your baby big or small!! |
My bichon is 14 pounds. I carry her around and she fits nicely in my lap too. She has a long body like her mother but its okay. She is just fine to us. |
My Marley is 10# now. Our vet didn't want him to get over 8.5# No "Porkie Yorkies" he would say. But Marley doesn't seem fat and he's very active. My only concern is his knees. Weight becomes important as they age. My little guy is 6# now at 2 yrs old. He's a chow hound. Spends his morning "vacuuming" the kitchen floor for potato chip or popcorn crumbs. Vet said he shouldn't get bigger than 5#. I don't want my boys to have problems due to weight, but they don't seem "fat" to me. |
