princepaulie | 12-19-2011 01:01 PM | We just adopted a 3 year old Yorkie, Paulie. I have an 8 year old daughter and a 3 year old son. Paulie does really good with my daughter, although sometimes she does get upset that he "just wants you, MOM" ( I've heard this a few times from my daughter lol) Paulie is a bit shy with my son, and for good reason, 3 year old boys are not notorious for being calm and quiet. However, when we play outdoors he loves to run full speed along with my son and they have a lot of fun together. Here is the breakdown, he seems to have a specific relationship with each of us. I'm the one he runs to when he is scared, and he follows me everywhere and is always sitting next to me. He knows he can count on my daughter to slip him some off limits treats, so he is always begging from her lol. He also greets her at the door when she comes home from school. He will sit with her, if she makes him, but he will stay there on his own. He only seeks out my youngest when it's time to play outdoors, otherwise he stays clear of him, and gets nervous when he comes around until he knows Frankie is being nice and calm. SO after all of that, I would say your daughter is probably the perfect age for a dog. I got a rescue because I know, with 2 kids and our busy life, I wouldn't have time to potty train. You should consider a rescue... just sayin. LOL |
