For those of you who use washable potty pads... How do you teach your pup the difference between the flannel pad that is okay to potty on and other things made of similar material (people bedding, the furniture etc)? I found several at yuppypuppy that I really like but I'm concerned about using fabric... Advice? Ideas? Thanks! |
I have never had a problem with confusion but I think in my case it is because I never change the place of the pad when we are at home. Also if we are traveling I usually keep a closer eye on Sophie Kate and if I see her looking "confused" I will place her on the pad and use the "Go Potty" command. |
I don't use throw rugs LOL after a few tries i said ok no more rugs |
I suggest you place the pad at a designated area and keep them in those spots. Train the dog to use that spot. This is just like training your dog to go to one spot in the garden and not your whole yard. Good luck! |
After my guys were very familiar with where the potty pads were, we switched! I use a different detergent to wash them with (free and clear), so there is no similarity to the way they smell verses rugs I wash, etc. They had no problem using them!! We buy ours from a Yt member... Tbumpkins... Cathy does a WONDERFUL job!!! |
Thanks so much for the tips! I may invest in 2 and see how it goes! (off to check out Cathy's stuff!) |
