Puppy coat ? As beautiful as my little Tay-terror is, I have to ask this. Is puppy coats nomrally just scrappy looking on some days? She looks so pretty when she actually lets me brush her fully and shes so soft looking and just beautiful, but on days where she is playing, running and all non-stop her hair just looks awful like I don't take care of her. I see other pics of yorkies and her hair just seems so scrappy sometimes..lol. Is this normal? Maybe just her puppy coat? She will be 16 weeks on Friday. I'm hoping when I scheldule her a grooming for in 2 weeks it can help a bit. lol |
I always want to brush Belle because with her coat being shorter it gets ratty looking. When her hair is long I don't notice it to much. |
My Bitsy will be 16 weeks old on Thursday... she has the "cottony coat"... she seems to have little mats near her body... yesterday I bathed her, used conditioner... and used a comb on her for awhile... (didn't help much). I was thinking the same thing about having her groomed sometime soon. My Jasmine(she's 13 months) and Butch (he's 22 weeks) have the "silky coat" and is just a joy.... no knots.... I need to bathe them more because they get a little greasy looking after a week or so.... Bitsy and Butch have never been outside.... Jasmine goes out sometimes when she is needing a bath... they are all tiny..... Anyway.... take a picture after the groomers... I'd like to see what your pup looks like afterwards. :) |
Thanks. Tay I think is having a silky coat, as she has never had a mat on her, and her eyes show up green in pics..lol if that holds any truth to it. But I know its not all cottony at least. |
I think my dog (3 months old) has a silky coat also. His hair is perfectly straight - still thin - and never matts. And, I have to bathe him at least once a week because he has an oily coat. I'm hoping that when he gets "more hair," this won't be so bad. He sure can look scruffy though - but it is scruffy in the cutest way....you know "the all-American mutt look." I plan to keep my dog short. However, I do want to grow him out a little just once to see how he does. I'm going to wait until he is older before I do this. A lot of breeds definitely do go through "an ugly puppy stage" -- My Bichon did and my Pom/Poodle did also. But with both of them --their first trip to a groomer made a big difference. Good luck!
