Observations of Odd Behaviors in My Yorkshire Terriers... First... Tinkerbell has taken over my computer chair. If it has spun around to where she can't get up on it, she will hit at it till it turns enough for her to have access. Or she will bark at me until I help her. Second... When Sapphire is in my lap, she always puts her paws on the keyboard. I tell her she cannot type until she learns to spell. Also, if I am typing, and she thinks I should be putting my hands to a more constructive use... as in petting her, lol, she will put her head between my typing hands and start trying to lick my fingers. Third... Sapphire again... She tends to follow me everywhere... and loves to be at my feet while I am cooking. As I moved back and forth in front of the stove, she mirrored my movements for a good 5 minutes or so... felt like we were dancing almost! Fourth... Sapphire again: I was running the vacuum, and I caught her watching me and it, she looked to be really thinking about what was happening. Not fearful, nor wanting to be with me, but watching the vacuum and looking at the rug after it passed over it. She did a similar thing watching me fold laundry, like she wants to know how to do it or something. And too funny... her nail on a hind foot got caught in a knot in her coat. Not bad... she could sit like nothing was wrong, but was walking a bit oddly. I looked over at her and asked if she had a problem, and she stuck her hind leg out perpendicular to her hip to show me her nail was stuck. I about died... that is such an unnatural angle for a hind leg to be in...lol. That's all for now.... such excitement in my life... thought I'd share.... :D |
OMG, this is SO cute & funny! I could just picture everything they do. How adorable AND how smart!! |
That is too cute!!! |
Too cute. |
I dont know what it is about the computer chair but one of our yorkies or cats has to be on it at all times. One will get up and another one will take its place. |
This made me giggle this morning! Thanks for sharing!:) |
Sapphire is a smart little girl and knows how to get what she wants. I find it funny that some Yorkies like to be high up for a good view of the pack while others are more into the dog house construct. My girl likes to be high up on a couch back rest if not on your lap, but my male does not like the high vantage of the chair and much prefers to sit in his Yorkie club house when we're not playing; which is behind the futon where he feels secure. |
Help ME Mama ! When not doing my volunteer days with doggies or Alzheimers patients, as you know, I am at the computer writing. My gang each has a preferred place to nap when Mama writes. Well Tuesday, Abba was not content with his usual spot and insisted on being in my lap. Gracie was not happy but, took Abba's spot and glared at us with a true bitchy attitude. Abba kept licking my moving wrists which was annoying. I softly scolded him with, ' no kisses Baby Boy'. He did his funny, whine yodel sounds and gently put his teeth on my wrist. Not really a nip, just teeth touching top and bottom of my wrist. I said 'Now Abba, what are you doing ?' Still holding my wrist, he looked up at me, let go then promptly rolled onto his back, and held his mouth open. I looked at him, baffled what was going on ? Gracie snorted and jumped up into my lap too. Abba did not move or jump down to give the boss her normal place of honor. Gracie pawed at Abba's face and made her growly throat sounds when she gripes. Then she looked at me as if to say, Well ? What are you going to do ? I really looked at Abba, his mouth was still open and I could see something black on one of his teeth. I I ran my finger over the tooth and there was something stuck between two teeth. I wiggled it, but it was stuck tight. I took him to the bathroom and laid him on a towel on the counter. The other three had followed to see what was going to happen. Abba licked his lips a few times , like I do when I am waiting on the dentist to give me a shot. He did not try to get up or close his mouth, it was rather weird. I took my tweezers and got a firm grip on the black thing I rocked it, and pulled it toward myself. It did not budge. I rolled Abba over and reversed the tweezer and pulled toward the roof of his mouth. A black, V shaped, sliver of wood pulled free. Abba gave a few tentative licks and with his lip curled up like an Elvis impersonator, before bit down experimentally. With his little nub wagging, he gave me happy chin kisses. I put him down and they all ran back into my office each took their own usual place. I didn't really think about their odd behavior, until you reminded me. Wow ! Yorkies are Amazing. aren't they ? |
Tee hee! I can just imagine these! These babies are so cute! |
Teresa, Abba's actions do not surprise me a bit ! I've owned a lot of Dogs (various Breeds) throughout the years, and Yorkies are the most intuitive of ANY. I'll take that level of self awareness above those who can do a bunch of tricks any day. |
