Excited n waiting Hi...soon to be new Mommy of little girl, need everyone's advise on how to pick new addition to family, what I'll need???? HELP |
Hi Jacqueline, we are both in the same boat. I am also new here and getting my puppy very soon! It's such an exciting time. On my puppy checklist so far we have made sure to have the following: - Gate - Food of course! - Bed - Blanket - Harness - Leash - Crate (if you are going to crate train) - Books - Nutrical And others can add on. |
You might want to add pee pads and a frame for them to that list and lots of time and patience. Best wishes. Maybe a puppy playpen? |

Bowls, you will need more than one blanket incase of accidents,brush/comb,shampoo/conditioner,spray detangler, nail clippers if you are going to do your own groominig (great information on the forum on how to groom),tiny toys (kongs are great), sweater or coat for outside walks (mine potties outside/didnt like peepads). My baby uses a waterbottle on the side of her crate, she cannt spill it. I put a tiny bit of peanutbutter on the spout so she could figure out how it works. Enjoy your new babys! |
Welcome to YT and congrats on your new addition! When we brought Katie Scarlett home, YT was the best resource for making my list of must have's before she arrived. We had the following when she came home: 1. food 2. nursery water 3. Nutri Cal 4. Food/Water Bowls 5. Brushes 6. Detangling Spray 7. Shampoo/Conditioner 8. Ear Cleaner 9. Nature's Miracle (has been a lifesaver!!!) 10. Treats 11. Puppy Wipes (for those in between bath clean ups) 12. Toys 13. Crate 14. Potty pads (if you pad train, which we did) 15. playpen/x pen 16. blanket(s) 17. If you are going to do clothes, go ahead and start them early. We started putting sweaters and top knots in right after we got Katie Scarlett to acclimate her to them. 18. Bitter Apple Spray for chewing 19. Toothbrush/Toothpaste 20. optional: Snuggle Puppy 21. Bath Mat, sink drain thingie to trap hair when washing 22. Cotton Balls (for ears when bathing) 23. Carrier 24. Optional: Car Seat (we got a Snoozer car seat and it has been one of the BEST purchases we have made! Katie Scarlett took right to it and she NEVER gets car sick! She loves car rides!) 25. Treats 26. Go ahead and have a good Vet and his number on speed dial. You never know when you are going to need to call! We found our vet before bringing our baby home through word of mouth and referrals from other Yorkie owners. 27. Nail Clippers 28. Be looking for good groomer too! And look into puppy classes to get off on a good start! We love puppy class and it has really helped Katie Scarlett with her socialization and training. 29. Possible puppy daycare for those days when you need her/him to be looked after. We have a great doggy daycare place in our town and KS LOVES going there! They are so good to her and she enjoys each visit! That is all I can think of at the moment, but I'm sure I missed something. These old YT pro's can probably add to the list. :) And be prepared to spoil these little guys! If you are like us, soon your baby will have a better wardrobe and more goodies than you do! Tee hee! |
