size comparison pictures With Yorkie and maltese's they seem to be built mostly the same, so I am looking for some insight. We are adopting a beautiful little girl maltese/yorkie mix named Bailey. I have another thread reguarding her adoption. I started this thread to just try to get an idea of what a 4 lb, 7 lb, 9lb and up yorkie/or mix built like the yorkie is really sized in comparison to everyday items. The reason I was thinking about this is because we fostered a 13 lb shih Tzu who appeared smaller than my in laws 7lb papion, this was a height issue the pappion is much taller then the shih Tzu, but the shih Tzu was built and stocky. At this point I really feel that I could not guess a yorkie or morkies weight unless it was over 12-15 lbs (big teapot baby). Just so anyone knows I am hoping she is 6-8lbs (even though I do not know look wise how big that is; just thought she may be a little less fragile at this size, but small enough my lap doesn't go numb lol) but really any size will be perfect. Plus I love pics |
I know what you mean about how hard it is to judge size. My ZoE varies between 6.8-7.2 lbs depending on the day/time of the week of her vet visit, yet she is a BIG yorkie. My last yorkie was 5lbs...5 1/2 when she got a lil chubby, but she looked sooo much smaller than ZoE. ZoE is longer and taller and just bigger overall...chest, paws, everything. I'm not sure you can just go by weight when comparing dogs. |
