Silly Husband He swears up and down he doesn't like Lola, but today I caught him slipping up. Lola wanted attention but he was busy cleaning something up and he said "not now Lola hunny" He soooo loves her and wont admit it. :) |
How cute... My dh doesn't try to hide it anymore. He loves them :) |
He calls her a hair rat around me, but who knows what hes like when I'm not looking. Betcha they cuddle. |
How cute a closet cuddler! |

Sounds like my teenage son! He used to call Sophia a rat dog (completely jokingly.) Then we got Peyton and he realized just how calm and SWEET Sophia is and he is always going on and on about what a good dog she is. :D He likes Peyton too, but Peyton is so playful and a little unsure of him, so it is hard for him to pet him. He saw him sleeping on my lap last night and wondered what was wrong with him. Peyton sleeps and cuddles on me all the time, but my son only just now noticed. Boys! :p |
My dh doesn't even try to hide his love for our 'rat on a rope' - his term. They snuggle in bed together, they lay on the couch together, he brushes Norman. Kisses, etc, etc |

My husband really loves our Yorkies too. Sophia adores him and cuddles by him in bed. She is my constant shadow and companion 100% of the non sleeping hours, but when we go to bed she likes to lay by him. Drives me crazy! But, now I've got Peyton...he snuggles with me at night so sweetly, so it's all good! :D Sometimes he'll wonder over to daddy and Sophia and I'm like, "no way! I HAVE to have at least one of them snuggling with me!" so I pull Peyton back over and he stays. I keep telling my husband if he "steals" Peyton from me at night like he did Sophia that I will just have to get another Yorkie! I can just see us in bed with 100 Yorkies...all cuddled around him! ;) |
I wanted to add...at first my husband did not want to get a small "lap dog.". He didn't really pet her a lot and didn't really want her in the bed with us, etc. I think Sophia saw him as "forbidden fruit" and had to earn his attention. I think that is why she likes to cuddle with him at night. The love they have for each other now is genuine and very sweet! So, when we got Peyton I told my husband he HAD to love on him lots from the beginning so that Peyton wouldn't be the same way and see him as forbidden fruit. :p So far, so good! Peyton sleeps next to me all night! :D |
My husband was very much a big dog kinda person. Well a little over a year ago he went to visit family. While he was away I got Eli (chihuahua) for us. He was mad at first, but that dog and him are inseparable!!! With Bella, he calls her a little rat......and then hugs her like nothing else! lol |

My husband was unsure about getting a Yorkie for me because he doesn't like small dogs in general. It all changed when Sandy came to our family :) They both love each other so much! Sandy's definitely a daddy's boy... |
Awww, Lola cuddles up between both of us at night, giving equal cuddles to me and to her daddy. He calls himself her daddy, and hes good to her no matter how much he teases her. Thomas grew up with cats only. He was never around dogs until he got to dating me. He loves our Labrador Sammy like nothing else. Sammy is sorta his dog now, but no matter what, he'll still walk Lola in public, even when she's wearing a pink tutu dress with a bow in her hair and her hot pink leash! |

the bf displays his affection for Harley too, but occaisionally calls him a "little terror", he also grabs toys and makes voices while Harley is attacking them. :p picture if you will.... "NOOooo Harwey, I'm ywour Fwiend!":animal36 |
AWW.. men are nuts... My hubby to calls Brandy a rat... weird huh... He says he bought her by mistake had it not been that she was cute he would have left her at the pet shop... He always complains about her till one night I was so sick and Brandy started to yelp... I got up to see what was wrong and they were playing with the ball... when he heard me coming he put her in the playpen walked away... Then I went to bed and heard him talking to Brandy told her to be quiet mommy sick... I came back out she was cuddled with him on the recliner with a blanky..lol he is such a softy... |
lol these stories are funny. My boyfriend is actually the complete opposite when it comes to small dogs. He grew up with small dogs so when I bugged him about getting a dog, he didn't want anything bigger than like 15lbs. Me on the other hand, I would have been fine with a 20-30lb dog (or my dream dogs - a black lab and golden retriever) but my boyfriend said that was too big lol so we agreed on a yorkie. His parents have one that is really old so he was used to the breed. I've always had a soft spot for yorkies and think they are absolutely adorable so I had no objections. We bicker over who Geno is going to love on that night but Geno has been giving us turns. He'll lay by me in my lap. I sit indian style on the couch with the blanket over me and Geno will lay in the middle. He loves it! Evenutally he will venture over to daddy and lay on his lap for a little bit, but he usually comes back to mommy. :) Last night, I was finishing up a take-home final and had my laptop on my lap and Geno tried laying on the laptop just to get in his nook so I moved my laptop to the side of me. He is so funny :) |
you all are so cute. My dh used to call Remy a rat too... rat, squeak and such. But he loves her, now he calls her his daughter (our skin daughters don't like that so much). My dd said I took his "man card" away when I "let" him walk a dog in a pink dress. I would like to see someone "try" to stop him:eek: |
Cute story!:) |
haha that's cute. i swear my husband was the same way... total closet dog lover. now that he has his owns dogs i SWEAR they get more affection than i do from him hahaha! but really that's okay, because i'm glad he loves them :P |

Real men love their Yorkies. Guys who are, lets say, insecure? They are the ones with the German Shepards and Pit Bulls. I will walk mine anywhere anytime and dont feel the least bit self conscious about it. I dont like calling myself a "daddy" to the yorksters, though. I never felt comfortable with that analogy. I prefer to think of us as a pack. But I would never refer to them as "Rats" either! And as far as cuddling, I admit to petting and hugging my adorable yorkie pack on a regular basis; its good for my health and well being and they are just so darn cute:D My female loves the attention, but the male is usually much happier playing non-stop fetch, which we do now for at least an hour every day. That is not to say that he doesn't appreciate a good tummy rub or scratch behind the ears now and again (as long as it doesn't get in the way of fetch):D |
Well, we have 3 pet rats as well as the dogs. He loves our rats and talks kinda cutesy to them. He loves all the animals really, hes a big softy for any pets I think. Which is a good thing cause if he didn't like animals we certainly wouldn't be together! |
Tee hee! These cute yorkies wrap Daddy around their fingers very quick! Brandon was always saying that he would like our girl before we got her, but she would be 'my' dog. Well I said no, she is 'our' dog. Well the minute we got her, he turned to mush. He acts like such a sap around her. He baby talks at her and loves on her. It's so funny to see him out walking her with her pink leash, harness, and sweater on and he doesn't care. He loves her to pieces. But lately, when she is getting into trouble he will say...'when she is being a bad girl, she is your dog.' LOL! |
We have shih tzu named Lola and my hubby would swear up and down that she was dumb and lazy...lol... Of course, whenever I sneak up on him who is sitting next to him while he pets her??? Lola...lol. So now he says she's a sweet dog, still dumb, but sweet....lol...Men are funny. |
Cute thread. Glad to see I (dh) am not alone in going absolutely bonkers over our Yorkies. Nothing like sitting in the recliner, foot rest up and three of the "Z"s snuggled w/me:). Ditto when I sneak a nap on the couch and all three cuddle w/me. |
mine never wanted a dog. then we got Miss Sadie and nearly three years later he's so in love with her and her brother Bentley. they sleep closer to him than me and snuggle with him not me...i got two dogs so we'd each have a baby and Bentley usually spends more time snuggling with me but Sadie is all daddy's girl. they LOVE him and he's completely head over heels for them...who says a not so crazy about dog person can't get wrapped around a yorkie?? :p my parents swore they'd never allow one dog in their house, now they have two grandogs and they adore them, dad wants to play with them all the time and tries to tease and love on them. mom let Sadie sleep with her when Sadie found her way into our basement guest room and cuddled up with her. they all love our babies to pieces now |
