It's people like this that make me crazy! This is a very upscale part of town. Clearly, Berry is well dressed and has her nails done. Clearly, Berry is also uneducated, and has no clue what she is doing.

Oh yes a 7mth old "stud". No health tests done. No showing yet. No Ch. both parents are CH...um I just wonder if she actually has the right to breed him?

here i have bradley akc registered(have all papers) 7 month old champion yorkie he fun loving and very athletic. his mom and dad both show dogs thats were his champion blood line(rare blue coat when short) comes from... well he's ready too find his mate and we are ready put his services out there his stud fee is 1000* dollars or half the liter... **** also will not and i repeat will not breed with anyone who is suspected of running a puppy mill make sure your home or place of buisness is respectful

Though, I don't see what her having well manicured nails has anything to do with it :p

I don't obviously know much about breeding, and I'm ok with that, besides all the other absurd stuff in that ad, isn't $1000 and half the litter A LOT to ask for as a stud fee?

Yeah half the litter? I thought it was always pick of the litter. What if there is only one? What are they gonna do?

heck, what if there are 3, or 5, or 7? they really haven't thought that statement through have they :rolleyes:

also, she says he is a champion yorkie- champion of what exactly? she doesn't even say his parents are Successful show dogs, just from champion lines.

for that price with an unproven, unchampioned, untested stud- i'd want the guarantee of gold sacs and umbilical chords- maybe even diamond babyteeth that can be scavenged for when ready!

Wow, I'm so glad we have so many educated members on Yorkietalk who knew right away all the things wrong with that post. Anyway, that person needs to join and learn a thing or two about breeding and pet ownership.

It was meant only as an outsider observation that she would appear to be financially ok, (though I guess one never knows), yet still feels the need to help her puppy "find his mate". I lived in that part of town for 25 years. For some of those folks, it would be all about the status of saying that they have an expensive, rare colored, championship, stud dog. I say, clearly, she is clueless, and just have to roll my eyes and sadly shake my head. I'm not bashing well manicured nails. In fact, I love them! I'm sorry if I offended anyone. :)

OK I am not a breeder and I am new so this is probably a really stupid question. Not let me say I am totally against bad breeder or puppy mills.

You made the comment "wonder if she actually has the right to breed him." I would have thought when you buy a pure bred puppy from show quality parents you would naturally have the right to breed the dog. I thought responsible breeders neutered the pups in the litter that don't meet the breed standard. Can you explain how it works to me. I don't expect to ever breed . I believe in taking care of any animals you may own and responsible ownership means if you don't plan to breed them you get them fixed.

Some breeders neuter the dogs first, but this isn't always in the best interest of the puppies. Neutering too early can cause some problems, although this is debatable. When you buy from a great breeder, most likely, they will sell on "limited registration". Meaning you can register your dog, but you cannot register any dogs that dog produces. Before a good breeder sells a breeding dog, they will want to know the person, and probably will share ownership of the breeding dog. Most good breeders insist that a dog be championed before it is bred. This ensures that the breeding dog meet certain i criteria in regards to physical and behavior characteristics. Of course a great breeder will also make sure a dog meets certain health standards as well.
