Disgusted Is it me or what but my husband and I went to a flea market today in Florida and they had puppies for sale. It was sad these poor little babies in cages and it was very warm. Kids were mauling these puppies some looked sick. Also at the market they had birds for sale the poor things in dirty cages. I had to get away or I would of voiced my opinion on these poor birds and puppies. You just wonder what kind of home they will get. Why do people breed these poor animals I know it is about money but they must have a cold..........heart. Sad and makes me frustrated to see that. I guess I needed to whine alittle. Susan |
Anyone who buys the puppies will most likely give them a good home, so it's good to sell them rather than giving them for free. Free puppies sometimes go to people who use them for unimaginable things. I would rather see people selling the pups than read where more were found in trash bins or tossed in a river or lake. |
I think there is a lot of over regulation going on in this country but the breeding and selling of domestic animals seems to be totally overlooked when it comes to oversight. It seems as though there is no one to call when something like the horrible conditions you describe are found. |
My baby sister (18) & her bf found a pup this summer at the flea market. They both have hearts of gold so of course they got one-at a steal for $75. He came home & infested the house with fleas but seemed to be coming around for a couple days. Then he got terribly sick fast & we found out he had parvo. My sister had to learn early the heartbreak of losing a pup:( & that stupid woman who sold him is free of the responsibility & $75 richer.:thumbdown |
Our trades days here is the first Monday weekend of the months and has a "dog alley" where all the pets are sold with their APRI, CKC, and ACA registrations.... |

It does make me so mad that they sell dog's at these places. But I do have this to say, when I lost my first Yorkie, my hubby came on leave from Korea. We were stationed in Georgia at the time, he surprised with me my Lizzie, when I asked where he bought her, he said the Flea Market in Savannah. While I wasn't happy to hear that and gave him a leason on the dog's sold there, he was very upset. I will say this, Lizzie was my heart dog. She passed away almost a month ago at the age of 14 years 9 months. I miss her so much, and am having such a hard time with her being gone. I also went to the Trade Day's in Canton, Texas many years ago and it made me sick to see all those babies there, and have never been back. |

It's very sad!! And to make matters worse... they aren't slowing down. Can you believe in my SMALL town that we now have a puppies R us... It's so sickening! (They are a puppy mill) |
At our local flea market, there is an inside booth full of all kinds of puppies, including a little Yorkie. He was so small, still all black. I had to turn away and not look. It is such a conflict--wanting to save the tiny thing, but knowing that buying them encourages the irresponsibility. It is just sad. |

Flea markets unfortunately can have puppies from puppy mills but also things that have been stolen from people. At the cemetary my moms at people come and steal the little statues and things people leave on their loved ones plot and they take them to the flea markets and sell them. Thats why I really dont go to flea markets |
I can totally relate. I was in Florida almost 8 years ago and my Aunt and I went to go shopping at the flea market, and we got to the dog section. Oh my gosh. There were flies EVERYWHERE it was burning hot, the cages were nasty, and the dogs were so sick looking. She later went back with her hubby and got a Rottweiler. And let me tell u, this is the most well behaved lovable; and cute dog I have ever seen... Eliminating my dog and all yorkies out there;) I love her to peices! That was her only dog from the flea market. She has 2 rescues though... A German and a chow mix. |
