With all of this CKC talk, I wanted to share I'm another YTer who browses ads for Yorkies, really just looking as 2 furbabies is my limit. But I ran across an ad early one morning for a female yorkie being rehomed. I emailed the seller and asked questions about the girl because my coworker wants a female only for her daughter whose little girl was hit by a car earlier this year. I could not believe the reply. In answer to my questions she was CKC registered, intact, had a litter last year IS 3.4 POUNDS AND 6 YEARS OLD!!!:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:. She told me that her little girl cost her $1600 'a few years ago' so she'd let me chose how much I'd pay for her. I never responded. I had too many questions and concerns. She sent pictures of a very tired looking yorkie and it broke my heart to not snatch her up. Her ad was flagged and removed twice. She didnt add what city she lived so I have no idea where this dog may be but I'm always amazed at people breeding their dogs til they can't anymore then trying to sell them off for many many dollars just to continue the money train. This may not have been the case but that's what it felt like. Whose up for a $1600 CKC registered yorkie???? aaaah, thought so. I did ask her why she was rehoming her and she gave me the standard 'we just dont have time for her anymore' Sorry guys. The whole thing just got to me. Rant over |
I'm a little confused...do you have a problem with the CKC or something? I understand the response was rude, and the person doesn't seem to care about the dog, but you said 'whose up for a $1600 CKC registered yorkie????' I might be mis reading, but I'm just wondering. |
Nope. My issue is the ad and this dog. The fact that I had been reading responding on a thread about them is what prompted me to go ahead and post since its been on my mind a couple of days. Regardless of what sheet of paper, the situation bothered me. |
Ok. I got it... I just didn't understand. It is hard to imagine what this dog is going through. I am upset as well! Thanks for answering my question! |
I know. Wish we could get this little lady dog and just love her. Sad that she is so tiny and being used for breeding. We can't recue them all, I try to stay of CL because it upsets me to see dogs passed around like pizza at a slumber party. |
No problem, it made me mad and sad when I got the information about the dog. I wanted to post that day but was worried it would seem random or something but I couldn't stop thinking about it. Her selling point was that it was a CKC baby so I even asked WHICH CKC, she told me she didn't know. but she would check and let me know. She never did say. It was just all inside and I wanted to get it out, none of my friends or family are interested in anything like this so I had no one I could talk it out with. I was just venting. |
I need to stay off of there. It was fun while looking for my first Yorkie til I found YT and began seeing the pics, ads and prices in a YT light. Thanks for reading guys. I feel better at least sharing with people who get why it made me sad. |

I'm reading it from my computer and not my phone now and I do see how that came off. I didnt mean it any kind of way. I apologize for coming off that way. |
So sad. I hope that someone gets that dog who doesn't have nefarious plans for it. |
OMG, she's 6 years old 3.4 POUNDS and they just bred her? That's crazy and the price is also crazy for an exbreeding dog. By the way, if it's the Contential Kennel Club, I have a problem with it, it's a paper registry and does not mean anything. She may or may not be a purebred. This is such a horrible way to treat an animal. It may be a scam, these people know what will pull on our heart strings and some people will pay anything for a tiny, but I hope she finds a good home, I'l bet she needs a lot of care, pregnancy is so hard on tinies. |
