Saved Little Dog... maybe??? As usaul, Bailey and I were out on a walk at about 1 or so. So as I finished walking the neighborhood, 10 more mins. till I get to my house, I hear a whimper. I look at Bailey and she is just doing her own thing. Then I hear it again, I look around and at the house in front of me to the right I see a small Shih tzu looking dog sitting on these peoples front step shaking because it was FREEZING out! So I go up to the house(may have been a bad decission), and I was holding Bailey... and as I get closer to the steps, the dog whimpers at me and as I look at it, the dog looks like it hasn't been groomed in ages, the dogs teeth are sticking out, it's shaking, and it has like a shaved butt/ leg AND it was itching. So I said, maybe this dog has an electric fence. So I wait at the sidewalk and just wait. The dog is sitting there shaking.... just waiting to go in! Then the dog jumps/ limps off of the steps and RUNS! So I decided it was safe to go to the front steps. I ring the bell and their were 2 yorkies inside. And the man answers the door, and I was like Hi, your dog was sitting on the front steps shaking. And he was like oh, really? And now the 2 yorkies(not grooomed) are running in the front yard. And I was like yes. Was it a big dog or small dog. And I said small. And so then he starts asking me questions about Bailey while he is picking up poop in his yard not even worried about the dog!! So then I was like yeah, your dog ran. And he said, right. Where? I said to the back... and he said ok. Well thank you very much! And I stood there while he was still picking up poop, and I said no problem. Bye. So long story short- This poor dog looked like a dog that had been abused that you would find at a puppy mill or SPCA when they first bring a dog in. My heart was hurting so much for this dog. He didn't even know that his dog was missing! I was standing there for at least 10-15 mins. I was so SHOCKED! I thought I would just vent about this poor dog! And the yorkies inside!! He obviously didn't care. Next time, if this dog doesn't look better... I'm going to call AC! :eek: |

It always makes me so sad to see that other dogs don't get to be as spoiled as our babies. :( It's hard for me to imagine Jackson living a life like that.... and I tell him every day how lucky he is. |
Things like this just do something to me. How can someone be that uncaring and cruel. And yes, I think its abuse for a dog to be left out like that. Good luck in calling AC, because if they are like ours, they could care less too. We fed 2 dogs and watered them next dog for a long time because they were left by the owner. They said the gate was locked and they could not go in and get them. WHAT???? I have never heard of such a thing. I guess they were suppose to starve to death. I would try anyway to turn this guy in. There is no excuse for something like that. Why if they are not going to care for them do they keep them in situations like that. Give them to someone that will love them and give them a good home. I guess thats too much trouble for "just a dog". People sometimes make me sick. |
Poor little guys! Bless their hearts! It too makes me so sad to know there are dogs out there who aren't as loved and well taken care of as a lot of babies that I do know. I tell Katie Scarlett often how Mommy takes care of her because she loves her and that there are so many dogs out there who don't have Mommy's and Daddy's who take good care of them. She gets this a lot when she is not wanting her toothies brushed. My heart just goes out to all those poor babies! I wish I could bring them all into my home and give them the love they deserve or find loving homes who would. |
I would not wait till next time. I would call animal control ASAP. Those poor babies should not have to live like that. You say the dog was limping ? It could have a fracture & if that's the case , it could develope a bone infection without treatment & if this happens the dog will either be too far gone & the expense will be more then the owner wants to pay or it could simply suffer & die. No matter what it sounds as though the dogs need some physical attention rite now, not later. |
I'd walk up to the man and give him 2 choices. You surrender the dogs to a reputable rescue, I'll help you find one. Or I'm documenting this, calling Animal control, and you can enjoy your court visits and fines. Inform him that the dogs will be taken to a shelter if they're removed from his home where they stand a good chance of being put down. Of course, starting to take care of his animals would be an option he did have.. but I wouldn't say that. IF he doesn't have enough sense to do that, I'd just call AC. Again, that's just me, and what I'd do. I ended up with Tashi in a similar way.. except I'm a total sucker and gave the girl money to get her out of the home. |

Were they an elderly couple? Maybe health wise they are unable to care for them like they should. Even more so, and even for them, they need to find someone to take them or surrender them to a rescue. |
