This is my second post, not quite sure what happened to the first?

Will be bringing home a new yorkie boy in 3 weeks. Currently have a 2 1/2 year old yellow lab that deserves a brother:)

Hello and it's very nice to meet you all. My name is Patti and my husband and I are proud parents to Charlie, a 70lb 2 1/2 yellow lab, he is the most obedient, energetic, loyal, caring dog anyone could ever hope and wish for. Also, he is intact, has never sired (although we get asked at least once a week), nor does he raise his leg... we are truly blessed.

We have decided to expand our family because he is just so awesome, he deserves a little buddy. We researched nearly a dozen local (150mi radius) Yorkie breeders and think we found our little guy.

The breeder has over 30 years experience, only breeding Yorkies, all kept indoors , very clean, very reputable. This little boy that we fell in love with, is a bit smaller than we were originally looking for, currently 1.58lb at 9 weeks old, but his personality is identical to Charlie's. Tons of energy, very independent, much more tough then he is big

The breeder says 3 more weeks and he can be ours and anticipates, judging by his bone structure, he may only reach 3 lbs. All that matters to us at this point is that he is healthy and can live a happy full life with Charlie and us.

I would appreciate any advice on owning a smaller yorkie, bring-home introductions, and anything else I may be should consider. Thanks in advance.

Thank you all for the warm welcoming :) Is it normal that I am so excited, I almost look for an excuse to call the breeder, I don't know what that's about, just anxious I suppose.

I didn't get to feel this way about our lab, Charlie. He was originally for my 17 year old stepson, and eventually he (being the teenager that he is) was just going out too often and neglecting Charlie, my husband and I soon took over, Charlie was 5 months old at the time.

For the first few months I tried not to get too close to Charlie, the idea that 3 or 4 years down the road our stepson would move out and take him scared me. Needless to say when my husband and I took over, I went all in. Now I adore Charlie and find comfort that he will grow old with us. My stepson, now in college, just comes and goes now and knows he made a poor choice and will have to someday start over again with a pup of his own. I wouldn't change anything, my stepson had pleaded with me that he never had a pet of his own and I sweet talked his dad into getting him a dog. My husband at the time was a bit pessimistic and in his heart knew his son wouldn't be responsible, it all worked out and I couldn't be more grateful.

Sorry for the rambling, thought a little bit of history might be useful in aiding my YAAD (yorkie arrival anxiety disorder). Thanks again everyone

I am a newbie as well and just brought home my yorkie on Monday. I also have an 11 year old as well.
My breeder also has been doing this for 30 years and she gave me some good advice.
Put his bead and wee wee pads in the crate with his food and water. Pick him up when he is not crying. I was advised not to let him pee outside until he gets his 3rd set of shots in Feb but I can take him out (Just not allowing him to walk on the ground.

Hi Patti, I am also a newbie to this forum but have had dogs all of my life. I also have a yellow lab "George". He is pretty similar to your lab, but he is 86 lbs. He is playful, energetic and obedient. He is also intact, only because the only way the show breeder would let me have him was as a co-owner with her and with an agreement not to spay him, so he could be used as a stud. He is wonderful and has never shown any aggressive behavior and has never lifted his leg to mark, other than outside.

I also recently got "Jersey", my male yorkie who just turned 6 months on Dec. 3rd. He weighs aprrox. 3 1/2 lbs. I now allow them to play together, but strictly supervised, only because of the size difference. George is so good and patient with Jersey, who is a typical energetic puppy who bites his tail, legs, ears, well really just about everything!

I did not let them play together until a little over a month ago and Jersey was about 3lbs. I am the overprotective type pet parent! I did not use a leash for George, but would recommend that you use one in the beginning. We have a sofa down stairs that George likes to lay on. That is where I introduced them, to kind of put Jersey at George's level. Jersey was all over George, who was wonderful. He seems to understand the size difference and is very gentle with him, but me being me, will never let them together unsupervised.

No outside potty training for a couple more months, that will probably be tougher on me then the little guy :(

Just weighed Jake and he weighs 2.4 pounds and is almost 9 weeks old.
Does anyone know how to figure out how big he will be?
I think about 6 pounds:)
