Blue borns everywhere?!?!?! Wow!! What is going on??? There have been 3 new members recently posting and asking me questions about blues!! And now there's a thread entitled "new litter" and the op states 2 pups are "grey and tan".... What the heck is going on????? Before mack, I had NEVER heard of a blue. Most of the ones I found were sick, dead, or bald. Now it's like they are being born right and left!! (and mostly to people who are breeding for the heck of it) it makes me sooooo sad!! These poor babies have who knows in their futures..... Geez.... |
I had never heard any of this talk till I came to this group. I had never heard the term blue..I admit I am still learning with Prissy and we both have a long way to go..Love her and I'm amazed at how much energy she has..But then again i would rather have her energetic than very quite and subdued,,she is just a puppy and so inquisitive.. |
Well, I KNOW that I wasn't one of the people that asked you for anything. I am the OP for new litter, and in case you weren't aware, breeders call them "blues". I just figured that I would describe them by how they looked, rather than by their defined term. Furthermore, I actually adopted these two Yorkies after fostering them for nearly six weeks. Bear is NOT the father and Izzy was already pregnant when I adopted her. So, lets think about what a scenario "could be" before assuming and jumping to conclusions. |

Not passing any judgments!!! But what the heck??? You took in a pregnant yorkie that had blues??? Plz do tell!!!!..... |
these dogs were found in a dumpster in pretty bad shape. We took them to the vet and they needed quiet some care. He was already neutered, she ended up being pregnant, per ultrasound with at leat four. Their story changed my life to the extreme, no way I could let these guys go after what they had been through, so I adopted them pregnant and all other concerns. When the pups were born, I thought cool, two grey and tan ones, then did some weight chart and color research, when I learned, that these " blues" tend to get very sick and that most breeders"make' them not exist. So here I am eight dogs later. Worried but not intimidated. We will spay and neuter all of them including mom. There are enough homeless dogs in this country just waiting for that forever home! Dew claws are gone, but tails are staying, I am personally against altering a perfectly fine animal other than fixing them and taking those interfering dews off.. They will be wonderful with their little tails intact,I don't intend to do anything but love them and enjoy them as they are, and the ones that are going to live with friends and my families are going to be fine without papers. So that is our story and new FAMILY Thank you for all the warm welcomes, I really needed the support!:animal-pa |

Way for you to jump to conclusions though. |
Oh sorry that's not what I was doing, that's not who I am, I just put the blue into hyphens, because that's the breeder term, to me they are still grey and tan, big mishap, so no I was not trying to jump to that, I know from reading that one of her dogs is blue born. |
:)This is my first time ever using a blog, but what I have learned in one day, that you have to be so very careful, how you express yourself and how quickly the wrong perception of your words can occur. Almost don't want to post anything anymore. People seem to jump all over you here. I am guess I am not tough enough or maybe it's postpartum something, I did just have 6 puppies, maybe I am extra sensitive.:) |

My thoughts on 'blue borns' is that they are more common than 'breeders' let on. I wonder if in the past~just from some stuff I've read~that they would be 'put down' right away & not even tell people about it happening!! Like it was considered a shameful sign they were a 'bad breeder' or something because this happened to them?!? One of my old neighbors had 2 completely white boxers!! She said the breeder was told to 'put them down' because of potential health risks because they were not 'breed standard' but she couldn't do it!! So she gave them to my neighbor. She had them 10 'healthy' years before they started to go deaf & blind & ill~so she ended up putting them down at that point. But 10 years for a boxer~I think that's a pretty good life!! Anyways~I just wonder if the 'blue born' thing has been blown out of proportion by some super~radical breeders~like the 'white boxer' "not breed standard so kill it" thing?!? Just a thought?!? |

Who Knows ? I have wondered myself, do almost all born blues have health problems or only some ? I did research on red and blue Dobermans because that is what my search kept coming back to. I could not find any case studies about Blue Born Yorkies. I think on YT, people that have Blue Borns should keep records about their life. We may be finding out the facts for future Blue Borns. I do think Blue Borns were mostly given away free, or put down by serious show breeders. I know they have been popping up for generations, just like, golden, parti colored and chocolate Yorkies have. Who has really followed Blue Borns from birth to death ? We need to know more, maybe someone would like to do a study ? We are all here to support each other and to learn. Welcome to all new YT posters. Don't give up on us, please stay and let's learn from each other. |
Yeah~it's kinda weird there's not much out there on blue born yorkies~but there is on dobermans?!? I think this is a great forum to keep track of blue born data!! I know I will try to keep updating on Hippo's health~even though he's only 8 weeks!! & Kendra with Mack is keeping us informed on her blue guy too!! :) & there are others on here too!! Hopefully our stories will help others with blue borns!! |
