Help 3 Attachment(s) As I said earlier we rescued Gizmo from the animal shelter. They said he was a Yorkie mix around 11 months old. I have been doing some research and from what he seems to have all the right colors in the right places. His coat seems kind of wiry but what seems to be growing out is soft. On the head when I look at the roots it appears to be tan and on the back blue but I am not sure if this is wishful thinking or not. I keep trying to take a face picture but he is still camera shy. I can't get him groomed for 10 days because of his surgery and he came home with Kennel cough. They sent him home with Antibiotics, 10 days. We have an appointment with our vet tomorrow. He seems to have all the traits of a Yorkie walking around so proud, holding his ears up and he seems to have a great personality even though we have only had him three days. I think he might be a bit large for a Yorkie as he is over 7 lbs, 9 to be exact. His back is straight and his tail has been docked. I know it will be hard to tell but what are your opinions from the pictures what I have said about his coat if he will grow a long one or keep a wiry one. I would love a long coat but he already has my heart so as long as he is healthy that is great. |
He is adorable. Only time will tell if the coat will grow long not all yorkies are able to grow long coats. Then some are able but the coat grows slowly so you never know |
Gizmo is precious! |
Gizmo is adorable:love: Not sure about his coat, though, only time will tell. Welcome to YT:D |
He is a cutie. Give him time to grow up and you'l see. He looks like a yorkie to me.l |
Gizmo is absolutely adorable!!! You can definitely see the Yorkie in him. Everything I have read on the subject says that their fur is not mature until they are 3 yrs old, so give him time. Brodo's color has already completely changed from when he was 8 weeks old, he is only 7 months old now and there looks to be another color underneath lol :D |
4 Attachment(s) He is a cutie and I am glad that you rescued him. Kudoes for that! I do not think he will grow a long coat though. He seems to be mix with is my guess a chi. Here are photos of two of my girls I was able to get their photos of when they were 11 months old for you to compare with, so you would have a guess of the hair on a yorkie at 11 months. |
I agree with topknot - he looks like a yorkie-chi to me. He is cute whatever he is mixed with and congrats to you and for rescuing him!!!! |
Just wanted to chime in and say I was totaly thinking he was a yorkie-chi mix, and when I hit the bottom of the thread I see a couple others agree. He may never grow a long coat but I bet he'll always be a sweet pup who is glad to have been rescued by such a nice mommy! :) |
1 Attachment(s) Hey a Yorkie -Chi mix would be wonderful. My Mighty Mo was a pure bred Chi and I loved him with all my heart. He got very sick very fast (brain tumor) and we stopped his suffering a couple of weeks ago. I have been lost without him. My husband forced to go to the shelter and sure enough I fell in love with Gizmo. We were beginning to think he was older than 11 months because he wasn't showing puppy signs but now they are showing up. We think he must have been caged and only hand fed because he will not eat food out of a bowl. We are working on that. One accident so far on the house training. I think it helps that we are retired. We go to our personal vet today to get him checked out. Keeping fingers crossed he will pass with flying colors. Below is a picture of my baby Mighty Mo may he rest in peace. Thanks for all your opinions. |
awk, mighty mo looks just like my chi Dexx! and at that gizmo is Very like my one of my 'chorkies' kitty! i keep trying to upload pictures, but they are all too big :( what kind of bowl are you trying with him? my girls will only eat out of plastic rubber based non-slip bowls  but my 1st dog refused to east out of anything other than her stainless steel bowl- and my grans dog years ago would only eat off ceramic (but she was a spoiled madam by the time we got her). so it may be as easy as changing the bowl; if you try different cheaper ones- then if any dont work for him, you wont be out lots of money, im sure the shelter would be greatful of them either way! |
He's a pretty little boy. |
Oh, he is just precious. Bless you for rescuing him. |
Try a flat dish instead of a bowl. For some reason, some doggies are afraid to stick their face down in a bowl. It's worth a shot;) Your Mighty Mo was one handsome little man, awww:love: |
Gizmo looks really sweet ;) i can totally see him looking like a yorkie/chi . He looks like he has long legs and a adorable face . I thiink he is going to be a wonderful pet/friend . |
