You've certainly come to the right place to vent and grieve. We all completely understand how quickly these little furbutts can steal your heart. So sorry you had to encounter such rude people while you were going through that with your Hope.

I am sorry for your loss and the insensitive treatment by people who should have been trained to deal with grief and give good customer service.

Maybe you missed the title of the post, where it says "I really need to vent".
She's venting about spending money at the vets office to have them not listen, not care, and be rude.

I'm so sorry for your loss. When my little Casper died - my Vet's office was so kind and sent a lovely card signed by all.

Upon moving - I despair of ever finding a vet office like that again. And the Vet can be wonderful but if the office staff is NOT - then I will move one.

I've already changed Vets once here in my new state due to rude and snooty office staff (and I'm really not that hard to please).

You should have been treated with the utmost kindness considering the seriousness of the illness.

You know I was just thinking of this issue this morning. My babies are due to have their December dose of their heartworm medicine. I was thinking to myself that I would wait until spring then start the meds up again. Thinking that they aren't going to need it in the winter. They are hardly outside and there are no mosquitos. Hmmmm... I am giving them their dose in the morning.

I am also sorry that you had to deal with insensitive idiot people who should not be working with the public...

I am so glad that they did that for you. You must have had a very caring vet and staff.

Hope died on Thanksgiving night and the office was closed that next day. She had a follow up appointment on that Saturday ( this is the vet in our home town not the one who did the treatment) , so I called to cancel and I asked the male secratary to let the 2 doctors that worked with Hope know that she had died and that I appreciated all they did for her. I know that one is out on vacation for a month but I really thought the other would call to talk to me. I mean we were in there 1 to 2 times a week for the last month and 1/2 and I'm not talking about spending money here. It was very hurtful when he didn't even call. I know that he knows about it (even if the secratary didn't give the message( because his wife is the vet who treated the Heartworms. so I know that she comfirmed Hope dying with him.

Also, when she stopped breathing we had another doc from the same office paged and he walked us thru CPR. You would think that he could of past the messaged along or at least made a note about it in her chart. But no nothing..... I'm very hurt over the whole thing!

What is the worst thing is this.

For the last 7 years she survived litters of puppies, living outside in the oklahoma heat and cold, an enlarged heart, a blue heeler falling on her,:eek: and Heart worms ( This is only what I know about) she came from a family member. The only vet care she ever received was her spay and it was poor ( my vet had made a comment about it because I rescued her days after it was preformed)

So all of this....and I have her for 3 months and she dies.... if I had not had the heartworm treatment done I know that she would still be alive. :cry:

Put a posty on their peg board about good bed side manners to clients

Oh good, one of our members who lives in Canada, decided not to give it over the winter, you'd think she'd be safe, but her dog contracted heartworm, so I always recommend people give it year around. The treatment is just so painful for the dog that some animal groups will euthanize rather than treat.

Oh this is so sad, I hope you were able to spoil her rotten the last 3 months of her life. I'm confused though, why do you think she would have survived if she hadn't been treated for heartworms? I thought they die for sure if not treated; it's just that treatment doesn't always work. I can't believe people think that yorkies are outdoor dogs, they don't have fur, they have hair and hair doesn't protect against heat and cold like fur does.

I know in my mind that the treatment was her only option for survival but my my heart hurts knowing that she was fine and had never really had health problems... yet until I got her the treatment and to watch her go down hill so fast just kills me.

Oh I really don't think you should look at it this way, this would just be blaming yourself. It's like if someone has chemotherapy and still dies of cancer, the chemotherapy didn't kill the person, the cancer killed them. You did the best you could with the knowledge you had, so please don't blame yourself.
