Looking for Christmas safety tips for crowded homes Hey all, following another post about tree safety. I was thinking about how crazy christmas is going to be this year. We're staying with my mother, who doesn't have the safest house in the world. We usually park Harley in the livingroom, but mom's hosting christmas dinner, and we're bringing the mother in law as well. Christmas dinner involves multiple grand children, their parents (they're my step siblings), my grandparents, my parents, mother in law, bf, and me. How should I approach keeping him safe? oh and he hates children. Oh and our bedroom is carpet and does not have a safe under the bed, so we can't let him loose in the bedroom. I'm starting to think this is going to be difficult. Ba-humbug. ;) |
Honestly the best place for him in that kind of hustle and bustle and the fact that he doesnt like kids is in a nice safe crate and then just bring him out for supervised periods of times. Probably not what you wanted to hear and I know its not the easiest to do but I feel it is the safest. If he is not used to staying in a crate you can get him used to it now by putting him in here and there |

We will be taking Katie Scarlett with us for the first time this Christmas too. We have a huge family get together every year on Christmas night. Of course everyone wants to meet her, so she is coming with us. I am definitely taking her carrier with us and possibly her x pen so I can set her up somewhere. |
You could set up a crate and an x-pen if you can either in your bedroom or in another area. This allows him to be confined and safe while you mingle with family. |
I think a play pen or crate would be your best and safest option. |
We have a playpen that we use during the holidays or just when there's a lot of people at our house. My girls are small and I'm always worried about someone stepping on them. This way I know where they are and I can enjoy myself and know they're safe. |
Yeah he has a play pen that connects to the crate. I guess he'll just have to spend a week in there, I hope it's not storming, I'll just bring him for lots of walks. I may have to keep him on a leash if he's out of his pen as well. |
