Hi all! I am new to this forum, but I need help. I am in Albuquerque, NM and I am desperately searching for a special yorkie pup to add to our family for Christmas. We had one babe when we lived in Okinawa but were very blind to the puppy mill situation until after we purchased her. Therefore, she had to stay in Oki with a very trusted new family. Loved her very much and are since lonesome for another. However, I am finding so many scam ads and people who may not be technically running puppy mills, but that's what it feels like. If anyone has a reference from her or in southern Lo
Louisiana, I would greatly appreciate it!

I have read where many of the older pro's on Yorkie Talk have referred newbies there. I hope that helps! I am a new Yorkie Mom myself. I found our girl through a reputable breeder by contacting our vet. He helped me to find her and I feel we made the right choice with our breeder.

Sorry, I can't help you as we live 'over here' - but I was just wondering why you had to leave your first littlie behind? Surely a puppy-mill baby deserves as much love and care (probably more?) than a puppy from a breeder? Apologies if I've mis-understood! :) Sally + Harry x

No problem Harrysmum! The vet was actually concerned with her flying. Our Bella weighed in just at 2 pounds and had trouble with recurring pneumonia and several other breathing issues! Believe me, if it wouldn't have been the fear of the flight harming her, we would have her here with us now:(

Oh I'm so sorry for you all - what a terrible position to be put in and a nightmare decision to have to make. I was wondering if the smallness v flight was the issue :(

No, I just think (personally) that the way she was bred so small had a hand in her being so sick. The issue was her troubles breathing. The vet said that the added altitude adds to the stress of breathing for some dogs. That is why they don't let certain breeds fly in the heat of the summer or at all. But he said that he jus worried about Bella being able to handle such a long flight with her lungs always struggling. It was a very difficult decision, but one we had to make.
